Anyone here on Soompi going to CSUN? smile.gif

I'm still deciding if I want to go straight to CSUN or go to a community college first (PCC or SMC).
I wanted to major in Liberal Studies because I want to be an elementary school teacher, but I'm not 100% sure.
I want to have that college experience such as living in a dorm, meeting new people, joining a lot of clubs, and etc..
but then again, I want to live at home with my parents and have a little more time with being 100% sure of what my major would be.
I really want to do both -0- Ahh

Will you guys list some Pros and Cons of going straight to a 4 year college and going to a community college?
Please tell me some of your experiences and advices please~
Thanks in advance^^

if you want to be a teacher, go for csun... they have a program where you can get off to a fast track on becoming a teacher. might i add csun is known for their teaching program.

if you want to save money, go to smc or pcc. you will be able to transfer out in ~2 years and transferring to csun will be easy.

do you live in los angeles area or anywhere in socal? there will be more pros and cons i can list for you if do.

*pros for cc*
-Cheap
-Gives you time to think about which college you want to go to, ie let's just say you might want to go to UCLA later on, you'll have better chances of getting in from a CC than straight out of high school.
-Makes you stay focused. (give and take i guess, but generally since there is no security blanket of like Academic Probation and you know you MUST transfer out, it makes you focused imo)
-When you transfer, your gpa starts over... so instead of having your college gpa go from Freshman - Senior, it only goes Junior - Senior. So if you work your butt off the last 2 year, why not graduate with honors wink.gif

*pros for csun*
-Better student life? I doubt it though because csun is a commuter school. I guess you can join frats/sororities but ehh.
-Just knowing that your in a 4 year school. (I guess the security).
-Make more friends.

CSUN to me is more like a extended community college because a lot of people that go there (from my experience) tend to commute from where they live. So like CC everyone just studies and goes back to work/home.
