So here is my story:
I moved into a small unnamed apartment complex in September. Ever since then I've often heard my upstairs neighbor (a girl) have constant sex with the springs creaking and even the occasionally moaning from the girl. The walls are thin so I can hear this pretty well. This kind of activity usually happened between 11PM to 3AM lasting about half an hour. Before I moved to this place I lived in a house with some buddies and had the same problem with my friend having sex with his girlfriend. So you can kind of get I'm not very fond of this reoccurring deja vu thing happening. So I went upstairs and knocked on her door only to have her roommate answer it and tell me that she wasn't home. I described the situation to her and said she would let the girl who lived above my room know. I thanked her and left. Between the next three months, it seemed like she got the message as I heard minimal awkward sounds coming from above. But sadly this was short lived as I started to hear "sexy time" every other day of the week around midnight after I came back home from winter break. So today I went upstairs to talk to them again. I was able to finally meet her and began telling her of the noise I kept hearing upstairs. I asked if she could keep it down a bit during school nights and maybe go to her boyfriend's place more often to remedy the situation since I had to go to school in the morning at 8AM. I also apologized if I sounded like a jackass since I was also very tired and might have possibly said something to offend her since I was being kind of blunt with the stuff going on. The whole time she looked like she was offended and annoyed. At the end of my spiel, she replied saying the walls were thin and that she also heard noises from downstairs when my roommate and I were in the kitchen, etc (seemed like a mini-retaliation). She also said she respected what I said but it was hard to believe with the look on her face and felt like the inevitable sex upstairs will continue until my lease ends. Sometimes I think I'm being a little too sensitive but at other times I feel it's justifiable. I don't mean to invade their sex life but unfortunately my peace and quiet during school nights are being invaded as well. Please feel free to criticize my perspective and maybe even give me advice to avoid or even find a solution as I feel this situation will inevitably continue. Thanks!

It sucks to have noisy neighbors. The guy above me likes to play his guitar and sing. He totally pissed me off when he did it at 9 am on a Saturday morning. Since they are having sex while you are trying to sleep, I guess you can try getting some earplugs. If you wan't to be mean you can hit your ceiling with a broom or throw things at it.

Ya this kind of things happen. I guess you'll just have to get use to it, sleep with tissues in your ears if you really have to. Maybe sleep abit earlier then wake up at the time when their having sexy time to study, after they're done go back to sleep.

hahaha i was drinking when i read this and almost didn't control myself from spitting onto the monitor.

anyways, maybe you can study at a nearby cafe or your campus library (if you're close enough).
as for sleeping, um...you can wear earplugs, or you can sleep at a different time from her "sexy times" but if it's soo overwhelming that it distracts your sleeping/living cycles, i think you should have a more serious talk with her or maybe contact the building manager?

My upstairs neighbor always blares music all the time! I suggest if you are living on campus, to talk to an RA about the problem since you've already tried to resolve it yourself.... at least in my school we have quiet hours starting at 10 or 11?

If not, sex battle sounds good to me! =)

I guess it depends on what time you sleep...but maybe use headphones and listen to music or sleep with earmuffs lol

I have a friend who would study with ear plugs when her roomie's friends were over. Maybe you could try the same from 11 to 3?

Thanks for all the input. I was kind of already considering raspberylotion22's suggestion in contacting the owner's to the apt. Hopefully she will continue to show some common courtesy (as the past few days were okay).

is it disturbing anyone else in your building? maybe you can get others onboard

is it timber flooring? maybe you can go to a hardware shop and buy some sort of rubber/silicone material for her to put under the legs of their bed to reduce the transfer of vibration into the flooring.

i used to hear creaking sounds all the time last year.
SO ANNOYING.
especially when you have early morning classes.

but i moved into another apt. its pretty quiet. i like it haha.

you can always just do it old school style - grab a broom and yell "DAMN YOU KIDS UPSTAIRS! GERROFF MY LAWN!"
