it depends.
If i remember correctly, you tell the guy what you want it it for, he asks you questions
&based on your answers he'll make a 'special' batch for you with herbs (maybe other things too?)

One of the things in it is 'suk' of course it depends on what the hanyak is for.

it all depends on what the medicine is for. like jeshminee said, you tell the person who's going to perscribe your medicine what you feel is wrong with the body. sometimes they'll take a pulse read to see if the descriptions of the symptoms match how the body is reacting. after that they'll diagnose and make a perscription to help balance out your body. they should also tell you how many batches of herbs you'll need and how to boil it. most of the time it'll be around 3-5 batches, and you can usually reboil each batch 2-3 times depending on how potent the batches are.

a word of advice, drink it and eat candy after. haw flakes and rock sugars are usually recommended for younger people who can't handle the bitter taste. depending on the herbal place or supermarket, there may be some products that are already pre-packaged for certain things like health or energy that you can just throw into a pot with some chicken or pork and make some soup out of it.

I always thought it was ginseng and other herbs/roots in it. I only had a few kinds, and it wasn't really brown group - it was like an incredibly dark brown liquid, really watery. Almost less consistent than water..

But it really works because when I was little, I had a habit of peeing every single time I cried, so they made me drink it for a couple months and I stopped.
