MY GUIDELINES DID NOT WORK OUT FOR PEOPLE. SO I HAVE DECIDED TO CHANGE THE CONTENT.

ALSO, I HAVE CHANGED MY TOPIC TITLE FROM "CURE ACNE" TO "WHAT WORKED FOR ME" because I didn't want to mislead people. Thanks to the person who pointed it out. I have used the term "CURE" very incorrectly. There is NO CURE" for acne, but I believe using this method has led me to have no more acne, and thus led to my cure.

THIS IS FROM MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

REDUCE/ELIMINATE YOUR DAIRY INTAKE. AND SEE IF IMPROVEMENT OCCURS!
THIS MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU, BUT I HAVE SUFFERED FROM SEVERE ACNE PROBLEMS SINCE 11 YEARS OF AGE, AND AFTER SWITCHING TO A VEGAN DIET,
I CAN HAPPILY SAY THAT I HAVE FOUND MY CURE. SWITCHING TO A VEGAN DIET MAY/MAY NOT WORK OUT FOR YOU. NOT ONLY DID A VEGAN DIET HELP MY DIET...MY HEALTH HAS ALSO IMPROVED DRAMATICALLY.

Please don't misunderstand me. I am not trying to say that eating meat is wrong. I am just here because I want to share my happy experience with whoever is interested, since it worked for me and my friends.

Please do some extensive research on the vegan diet before you criticize me.

You can look in to
http://www.acnehelp.org.uk/dairy.htm titled "Acne help: the dairy product connection?" Dermatologists discuss about the possible link between dairy and acne.

Also, please look deeper if you are going to tell me that "NO dermatologists will tell you there is a acne-food connection" This wasn't the the case for me, since my dermatologist told me about the possible link.

Thank you!!! smile.gif

not really smile.gif Maybe because I naturally don't like to eat Meat or take in dairy products....
Five of my friends who had severe acne problems cut down on dairy for one month and now, their acne problems are minimal. 90% of asian people can't tolerate milk anyway...for many it shows up on the skin.

Thats a really good point !! Unfortunately, I used to believe that I needed CALCIUM FROM MILK as well!! !! This is from the book "Skinny pinkberry":

“Milk Does the Body Good” – True or False?
Now would be a good time for common sense. When we have babies, we breastfeed them, and then at a certain point, we stop. We don’t breastfeed our grown children, or our husbands or friends, for that matter. It is exactly the same for cows and every other mammal on the planet. They produce milk when they give birth, they feed their young, and then they stop. We are the only species on the planet that drinks the milk of another species. We are the only species on the planet that drinks milk as adults. Why? Because the multi-million dollar dairy industry has convinced us that we need milk for healthy bones. That without cows’ milk, we will shrivel up or shatter. However, Yale researchers found that countries with the highest dairy and meat intakes also suffer the highest osteoporosis rates.

The truth is, we can get adequate calcium from leafy greens, vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, and beans. And again, these foods come without the hormones, steroids, and antibiotics found in dairy.

"BECAUSE THE MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR DAIRY INDUSTRY HAS CONVINCED US THAT WE NEED MILK FOR HEALTHY BONES."
this is NOT TRUE. They are lying!

just because you give up all those things, it doesn't mean that it will get rid of acne. dermatologists say that it is mostly RARELY that food affects your face. and if u give up meat and milk than that can cause some serious health problems. acne is caused by uneven sloughing of the skin and oil and genes.

I'm studying dermatology, and I do think that there is a strong link between dairy and acne. Of course, this does not imply to everyone. Some people are great with dairy and meat products.

Giving up milk and meat does not lead to serious health problems. Well, at least to most people. I am a vegetarian myself and my health has actually improved dramatically.

You just have to do your own research and find out what works the BEST for you. these are just suggestions =) Good luck!!!

Thank you for reading my post, I appreciate it so much. I am not saying that eating meat or drinking milk is wrong, i am just trying to help people out because I had problems before, and this method was a cure for me.

but, dont worry you wont seriously get sick. Going Vegetarian has many health benefits, and I since i have gone vegan since age 17 I never get sick anymore. If you are so concerned, you can take a multivitamin as a supplement. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1) GIVE UP DAIRY!!!!!!!!!! Try this for one month and it will do wonders for you! Milk..icecream...anything with milk in it will cause pimples, as Acne is triggered by hormones and dairy products are full of them. You can do your own research and find out all about the evil of dairy...

I hate milk and hardly drink it at all...but I still get pimples.

2) Use a gentle cleanser, nothing harsh...Use products that dont have a lot of chemicals.

I think that's working more for me than any other cleanser has (it's not an exfoliator). Do you need exfoliation for healthy skin?

3) Give up Meat. Go Vegetarian...besides, protein is necessary but MEAT is not!

...I like meat...

4) VERY IMPORTANT! Sleep between 10pm-2am. This is the time when cells regenerate! When I sleep later than 2 am, i am more prone to breakouts.

This is easy when you don't have school

5) Take Vitamin B, A and C daily.

6) AVOID stress as much as possible. Do you ever notice that people during the holidays look brighter and more acne-free?

Not the people who WORK during holidays! Haha, jk.

7) AVOID spicy foods as much as possible.

Yah, that's find for me.

8) Give up Juices and sodas and drink ONLY water

Sodas, okay, I don't drink it that much, but why juice?

9) DON'T LISTEN TO BEAUTICIAN'S OR department store sales for skincare advice. GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST INSTEAD! they are the experts on your skin.

How much does it cost to get a consultation?

Back!

you don't have to give up on juiced and sodas. just limit yourself on them. dont be all drinking it from dawn till dusk.
I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH TO ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS DRINK WATER!!
i'm serious. drink 6-8 glass everyday. train yourself if its hard.
i saw a change of my pimples and the redness on my face in about week. there's still a few bumps here and there, but most of them are gone. DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER GUYS!

Hey, yeah that's true! Just limit the numbers of juice/soda. Actually, not all juices are bad. like 100% orange juice has lots of vitamin C in it, just go for something with vitamins and minerals Thanks for pointing that out!!!

Hey! Thanks for asking. Many people say that consuming chocolate has no effect on skin, which may be true for some people. However, everybody is different so try to eliminate chocolate for one month and see if improvement occurs.

Some people get a reaction [esp. milk chocolate] because of the high milk content in the chocolate, maybe its something else. You can go for dark chocolate. they taste just as good !! ( i think.) or if you still can't relieve your sweet tooth you can go to vegetarian supermarkets and buy Vegan Icecream (like Toffuti), cookies, vegan chocolate, and such.

People say foods like potato chips trigger acne but for me, it doesn't. I eat a pack of potato chips a day (unhealthy, i know)
Good luck!

I have to agree.

I've pretty much been living my entire life by those guidelines and my acne only now started becoming minimal. So I doubt those are true or at least for me they're not.

GetM0tivated It all depends in which area you live. I just went and saw a dermatologist and a first time consultation was $98 (self pay). I live in Illinois by the way.

Try to reduce your intake of dairy products. Do you eat cheese, cakes, foods with dairy in them?

2) Use a gentle cleanser, nothing harsh...Use products that dont have a lot of chemicals.

I think that's working more for me than any other cleanser has (it's not an exfoliator). Do you need exfoliation for healthy skin?

I use CETAPHIL 's Gentle Cleanser (recommended by dermatologists!!!!!!) because I have somewhat sensitive skin.
Personally, I do not exfoliate but I think it wouldn't hurt to do so, as long as it is gentle.

3) Give up Meat. Go Vegetarian...besides, protein is necessary but MEAT is not!

...I like meat...

thats not a problem =) You can buy Meat substitutes (Like Morningstar Farms, etc) you can find them at walmart, target..etc. They sell stuff like vegetarian corn dogs, cheeseburgers, sausages, chicken nuggets, etc etc. AND...THEY TASTE JUST LIKE THE REAL THING!!!

4) VERY IMPORTANT! Sleep between 10pm-2am. This is the time when cells regenerate! When I sleep later than 2 am, i am more prone to breakouts.

Haha! Good point. To alleviate stress do a little bit of exercise. like go for a run or something

7) AVOID spicy foods as much as possible.

Yah, that's find for me.

8) Give up Juices and sodas and drink ONLY water

Sodas, okay, I don't drink it that much, but why juice?

I apologize, juice is fine, as long as its not carbonated. go for 100% juice, they contain lots of vitamins and minerals

9) DON'T LISTEN TO BEAUTICIAN'S OR department store sales for skincare advice. GO TO A DERMATOLOGIST INSTEAD! they are the experts on your skin.

That's usually free. You would have to pay for the medication though, but insurance can cover it.

I have 3 different derms. I have unitedhealthcare and the downpayment for consultations are always 40 dollars.
I think its like that for most people too.

Even if you do all of that...acne is sometimes genetic. So no matter what you do, you'll have it.
What then??
I do agree with most of your things though, like the sleeping + water things. That's not only for acne, but also for your health.

Most of them are common sense.

That's wrong. Spicy foods are actually good for your skin in most cases. A lot of people sweat when they eat spicy food so their pores in their face open up and clear out. Spicy foods also tend to make people drink more water which is also good for your skin.
