The one thing I like about the zune 80 is it's larger 3.2' screen but I hear people complaining about it's program. The ipod on the otherhand seems more reliable but I'm stuck inbetween the two. Help me decide please ph34r.gif

i have the 30 GB zune, and i agree the software sucks compared to the ipod (i have the first gen nano) cuz it's really slow. but i love the huge screen, and it's really clear. for the zune, you can put pictures on and use your pictures as the background, which the ipod can't. i'd say get the zune if you want to watch a lot of stuff, it's a lot bigger than the ipod. but i think the new zune is fairly the same size as the 80 gig ipod now. the only thing i could complain about the zune is the software. it works, but there's def. room for improvement. it's also very less likely to scratch because of the material they use for the cover. ipods scratch like crazy. i'd pick the zune because of the screen. i heard the ipod battery life drops dramatically after a year or so too.

I have the zune 80 and I love it... I love the huge screen, I love the layout. I really like the fact that we can customize the background with your own personal pictures. Also, customization of the zune is better, you can get a picture engraved on the back + words.

The only thing that I don't really like is the fact that it doesn't support Asian characters, but I'm pretty sure that one day they might get it on there?

I've never really used a Zune except for borrowing my friend's a few times, but I prefer iPods. As for the battery life, I don't think that it drops that much ... I've had a 30GB video for quite a while and I think as long as you don't overcharge it too much, the battery is okay ... I also read that charging it before the battery completely dies helps conserve the battery life. As for engraving Zunes, if you order an iPod online I believe you can choose to engrave words into it as well. I also like the format of iTunes, and as hippiehop mentioned Zunes don't support Asian characters. I guess if most of the music you have isn't Asian anyways, it doesn't really matter, but if you listen to a lot of Asian music I'd suggest you get an iPod or an mp3 player that will support Asian characters.

Mhm well I used to own a ipod. It's just quick and fast. Easy to navigate.
I've played around with my friends zune which are the new generations ones that are 80 gb.
Their navigation is really nice. And you get to customize it and bigger screen, nice battery life.
Only problem is the Unicode support.
Zune does not have unicode support compared to iPods. So if you want to listen to Korean, Japanese, Chinese and other music. then that might be a problem if you get the zune.

oh yea, and talking about how zune doesn't support asian fonts, there are hacks that you can find on the internet. it is quite complicated, so if you don't want to go through the trouble, get an ipod. or you can always romanize or translate the song names for zune.

I personally love the Zune. My sister owns the 30GB and i used to borrow it a lot.^^
I like the fact that the screen is really big and you can customize your bg.
The only thing i don't like about it is the lack of Asian text support..
.. Unless, like someone else already mentioned^ you have to hack or something..? blink.gif
Anyway, it has bluetooth also, so you can share music w/ your friends if they happen to also have a Zune.
Battery-span is quite awesome too-- but that's if you turn off your bluetooth when you don't need it. sweatingbullets.gif

I used to have the 1st gen nano and not even a year of using it I was having problems with it. With it skipping 3 songs or skipping all songs and not playing with it at all. I agree that it scratches up quickly. So I switched the the 30GB Zune earlier this year and I love it!

Only thing I don't like about it is that if you go next to a certain metal object it will turn off. Other then that.. I like the features and how you can send music, pictures, and videos with friends. Even though you can only listen to music only 3 times but it's still good.

I was playing around with my friends Zune.
It's really nice.
You guys are talking about the 30 GB which was released a while ago.
But the 80 GB Zune is 2nd generation, big improvement over 30.
It's nice. My friends haven't complained about it.
But it doesn't have unicode support, but I heard there are hacks for it.

I have a Zune 30 and an Ipod 30(yeah... sweatingbullets.gif spoiled...) ... and I think they are both cool~ I haven't had problems with either yet... oh!! but except the fact that the Zune doesn't read Asian text or something, because a lot of my songs show up as boxes, which is a bit frustrating... or like when the picture for the song shows up when it's playing, it's kind of a bit blurry for me, even if the picture was high resolution in the first place. This is kind of bothersome too... And... also about the Zune is the program for it... it's a lot harder to "manage" well not harder, just not as friendly or straightforwad as iTunes, I think... just my opinion though... It's not that its harder to work with, I just prefer iTunes... and I don't know how to edit songs on there very well... I'm sure you can... but I just don't know... haha

As for the iPod... it has it's off days too... like I am kind of having a hard time turning it on and off right now (but I think it's just my iPod...) and it keeps going into Disk Mode... I don't know why (<-- never bothers to read User Manuals...) so I keep having to reset it... but an upisde is that is can read Asian languages (yay!)... but I hate the fact that the screen is so much smaller on the Zune... watching a video on the Zune is WAY more exciting than an iPod just because of the screen difference~~ haha~~ oh my gosh though, one thing I LOVE about the iPod is it's touch wheel... ah I forgot the name for it.... it's the thing that apple coyrighted... where you just spin the wheel with your finger, you know what I am talking about right? I guess it's because I'm too lazy to click the wheel constantly, because that thing makes scanning a LOT easier...

Okay... sorry for rambling... and I know I didn't reply for an iPod 80 or Zune 80 to be exact, so software might be different and updated and new and improved!!... even for my versions, stuff might be different, this is just my own personal input on it, but I hope I helped!! Good luck on your mp3 purchasing venture~~

i have the 80gb zune. i love it. it looks really nice to

the program.
well it took a little long for me to install and everything. it might just be my computer is kind of old or something. after i couldn't figure out how to add something to it... but i figured it out. after you figure it out, its quite simple.

zunes, just from my point of view looks better then ipods. i really like watching movies or something on them because they look better.
i also really like the new...i dont know what to call it...but its like a click-wheel but not a wheel. .. just goes up and down...
