Hi I was just wondering if anyone uses the Nintendo DS lite for help with their Japanese kanji characters, etc. I'm taking Japanese 4 and I have trouble remembering kanji characters & compounds. My friend has a DS Lite and downloaded a Japanese program that helps him with his Kanji....It's actually pretty useful.

Does anyone else here use the DS Lite for help with Japanese, or any other language? And are there other portable game consules/useful electronic translators that help with this too?

p.s. I think this belongs here....since I'm not talking about gaming? lol~

I have one and I use it to brush up on my Spanish that I learned in high school. Its called my Spanish Coach and it is pretty good. It speaks the words, and also you can record with the built in mic what you say and play it back to hear how it sounds. I tried Rosetta Stone for PC but damn it is confusing.

There's this dictionary called Touch Dictionary.
It's mostly for Korean users..it's a Korean dictionary, Korean-English/English-Korean; Korean-Japanese/Japanese-Korean dictionary all in one.
I could send you a link where to download it!

I never used the Japanese part, so I wouldn't really know?

Are there other utility programs for English speakers? Like an English dictionary, or other reference programs? I am aware of the Korean and Japanese ones, but I haven't seen any for English speakers.

The Touch Dictionary version I have includes definitions in English/Korean/Japanese. Click me for screenshots of Touch Dictionary! < screenshots from gamespot. Hope that helps.

Oh oh
I had this Japanese dictionary type thing.
It was pro. Well, you could like write in the kanji and it'd recognise it and give you meanings.

*goes to check*
okay, it's called Kanji Sonomama Rakubiki Jiten. but it's actually in japanese, soooo. if you can use it, it was pretty cool.
although admitedly, the only reason i had it was so i could play games (like bleach xD) in class, then the teacher would come along, and i'd boot this up instead and be like "it's just a dictionary lulz".
