also known as BB curve...anyone here have one?
do you like it?
any problems?
user friendly?
does it have aol instant mssger (AIM)?

im thinking about getting one..i used to have the tmobile MDA before i switched to the s500i
reason was bc it was big and bulky. but i miss having the qwerty board so thats why im interested in the BB curve.
i tried asking around but everyone kept saying, "why dont you just get iphone? its way better"

i have it!

there's not a lot of problems..
i'm a big texter so i usually have a lot of stuff in my inbox
and so then, because of all the text messages there tend to be a little lagging
but it goes away when i delete my inbox and i would think the problem can be solved if i get a memory card lol.

it's definitely user friendly.. it's not that hard. the only thing i'd complain about is that i can't personalize the homescreen much
but there's a lot of themes online lol..
and it's not that bulky. it's wide but i really prefer it over the pearl.. it's really easy to hold.
the scroll is awesome.
my favorite thing is that there's little sticky notes.. helps remind me of everything wink.gif
i'm sure other phones have it to but it's soo much easier to access haha.
the only complaint i have is that there's so much applications on the homescreen that i have to always lock my phone :/

the internet isn't that bad either.. i can practically access anything.
the images really aren't that bad.
you can use yahoo maps for directions instead of getting the gps navigator (+$10 a month)

i haven't tried the music/videos yet so i wouldn't know but the camera is pretty good too.

it doesn't have aim but you can download it if you find the application via internet
i haven't tried but i heard that's what you do.

also, if you get a blackberry you can join this program called the blackberry owners lounge or something
and basically you get a whole bunch of stuff you can add to your blackberry
like there's some free games and stuff or discounted things.

it's pretty awesome all around.

If you're not going to use the Blackberry with enterprise email (Exchange, Lotus Notes, etc) with BES server, you're better off getting a Windows Mobile based smartphone.

Reasons...

1) There is nothing a BB provides that is better than a Windows based smartphone other than the functionality provided via a BES server. Windows Mobile is much better for pop3/imap4 (hotmail, gmail, etc) and sms/mms messaging. Maybe this is just my opinion, but the vast majority would agree. A BB's primary appeal is the way it serves enterprise email and scheduling/calendar.

2) It doesn't support 3G/HSDPA. BB is still Edge/GPRS = slower internet (although on a positive note, it has GREAT battery life).

For AIM to work you need a texting plan, it sends IMs via sms text. If you want a messenger that sends it through a data plan then Jivetalk is the anwer for you. OR you can just get the unlimited texting plan from your carrier and use AIM that comes on the phone. Also it only randomly deletes messages and call logs off the phone if the phone runs out of internal memeory. Remember it only has 64mb of internal memory to use, if you have music, pictures, videos and ringtones you better get your self a microSD card to put everything in or else you'll slow the phone down a lot!

I haven't had a single problem witih mine so far and I have teh 8320 from Tmobile; wifi is great and super fast. I also have teh email and internet plan added on and it's amazing. I deleted a lot of programs off of it to "optimize" the memory on the phone so it'll be faster overall and have enough memory to play with. I also have a Adata4gb microSDHC card to store my multimedia files on it, this allows the phone more room to breathe.

Just wait for the OS 4.5 update, when thats released and you ahve internet you can even watching videos from youtube and be albe to record videos as well!!! It'll also suppsort Chinese and Korean texts, so look out for that. If you have any question about the phone you can always drop a pm in my box.

Yes it does, it has happened to me. You can look this up on google and what I did to fix the problem was buy a media card and everything is fine now. From what I read the reason it does that its because you don't have enough space because the blackberry itself takes up so much space yadda yadda so yeah but you can also delete applications on your phone that you don't need so it would stop deleting logs and such

yea...my aim works after i called my carrier (tmobile) and had them change some settings because i wasnt receiving the service books. im like 100% positive that the aim it comes with uses data. bc i remember using the sms based aim on other phonoes and it lagged so bad! on the bb, its instantaneous, just as if you were sitting on a computer. but anywho. i LOVE it so far. only had it for 4 days and no problems. and i added the unlimited internet/email plan (is that the same as data plan??) so i can look up directions, do email, and extra stuff (sometimes soompi) on the go! biggrin.gif
and yea i have a 4gb microSD being shipped to me right now. i should receive it tomorrow or the next day.

THANKS for all your advice timmiii !! i'll definately come to you if i have any questions. smile.gif

No problem man! Glad you like it, yea the internet/email is pretty much the unlimited data plan for the blackberry. I'm not sure about AIM, I actually never used it. I use Jive talk right now and its awesome once you get it you'll probably be hooked on it haha.
