I am looking for something to read during my downtime at school. I picked up Cell and ended up reading it before I could take it to school >.< now I need something else. My problem is I only really like Dead Koontz or Stephen King so my choices are a bit limited. Are there any good horror authors out there that I should try?

If you haven't seen the Hannibal Lecter movies yet, try Thomas Harris' novels. ^^

James Herbert is another good one, I find his style very similar to Koontz. His books are really scary and great reads.

Once again, it's hard to give pieces of advice to someone else, but here are some fantastic/horror/something novelists/novels I recommand... you can try :
- Clive Barker's novels (Imajica) and short stories (Books of Blood)
- Jack Ketchum's Girl next door
- Throat Sprockets by Tim Lucas
- A Choir of Ill Children by Tom Piccirilli (not really "horror", but brilliant)
- novels by Jonathan Carroll (From the Teeth of Angels, definitely not "horror" but definitely brilliant)
- Naomi's room by Jonathan Aycliffe

I second Clive Barker.
I have Weaveworld at home and I'm currently reading Mister B. Gone.
I used to love Dead Koontz until I read his 'The Face' book....

Yeah, Dean Koontz has a lot of the same themes after awhile. I read Clive Barker's Books of Blood in my Horror/Scifi Lit class (and Loved them!) but I don't want anymore short stories (still getting through Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts). So far the reviews of what you guys have suggested seem awesome! It helps that they are old so I can find them in my library. I'm leaning towards a few, some of the Clive books sound a bit much but I might check them out. Naomi's room sounds really good.
