This is so interesting! I have been shooting with a point and shoot and a DSLR lately, but I'd love to add something new to the mix. Yay...I think I'll spend the next few hours happily researching away. Do you guys develop your own film or what?

Before, I used Microsoft Photo Editor to edit the photos, but now I use Photoscape. Photoscape is agreat---it's free and there are lots of things you can do with it. Basically, I just adjust the red/blue/green levels, as well as the contrast and saturation that gives the photos a vintage, washed look.

Thanks! I actually stayed awake until 5 AM researching lomography! Er...once I get into something, I tend to throw myself in, head first. I think I'm going to start out with the Diana+F. After researching dozens of models, brands, photos, and prices, that seems like it's the best fit for me (for now). The Holga has beautiful pictures, but I really love the softer look that the Diana produces. The LC-A+ is, of course, fantastic but I think I want to start cheap and then work my way up. Who knows--I could be complete crap with lomography and not wish to pursue it...although I'm definitely hoping that is not the case. I'm going to D.C. this week and I guess I'll buy the Diana at the Urban Outfitters there. If not, there is a cool lomography cafe back in Seoul that I'll check out when I'm finished with my U.S. vacation.
Ahhhh...I think I'm going to be in this thread a lot from now on. Cheers!

Ahaha! TBH, I was the same when I first discovered this thread. I stayed up all night researching, looking at photos and what effects certain cameras or lenses made. It's just so amazing and unique and versatile. Even now, I still check out random lomography pages to see people photos heheee.
Does anyone here actually own an LC-A+ and could post a few photos?

umm, question, is it better to get a Holga with a built-in flash or one that requires getting a flash/hotshoe?
also has anyone tried a SMENA camera?
what do you guys think of this one?
yes, no, ehhh...
is the Fisheye Lens unattachable too?
and can the films be purchase at Walmart and other local stores?
thanks!

I say go for the one with detachable hotshoe because it's more flexible that way. You also won't need to waste battery if you don't need flash, like on a sunny day.
Yes the fisheye lens is detachable, but I personally wouldn't get that camera.
Wheeee I finally develop that roll of film that's been sitting on my side table for the past 6 months!! Almost every shot is blurry, but it's alright, it was my first roll of film, meaning I was ready for trial and error ;b. I can't wait to get the next film rolling! I'll post pictures when I get to scan them somehow.. My mom apparently didn't ask them to do it and I don't have a scanner at home. I might just take photos of them. (haha photos of photos)

so do you develop the photo yourself or go to the store and have them do it?
is there a holga camera with 35mm film or is it only come with 12mm?

can some body tell me how does the negative scanner work?
If you've got a darkroom, by all means, do it yourself. Or if you're willing to rent a darkroom, develop it yourself. Otherwise, just leave it to the photo lab people to do (eg. Wal-mart, Costco, Shoppers Drug Mart (for Canadians), Walgreens).
Yes, there are: Holga 135, Holga 135PC, and Holga 135BC (I own this one). All these three Holga cameras use 35mm. It's smaller than the original Holga (120mm film).
Negative scanner is a special scanner that.. well, scans your negatives and sends them to your computer--that is, after you developed them first. Some newer scanners nowadays have the feature of scanning negatives. Since I don't have a scanner now, I'm considering getting one later.
Yes you do need to use the developing reel to develop negatives, but that doesn't really have to do with scanning your negatives.

i'm a proud owner of the diana F+ [tokyo rising edition!!!!], a vivitar ultra wide and slim [point and shoot camera] and an all weather actionsampler with four lens [the brand is called aryca, taiwan brand i suppose]! hehe. but i'm still quite new to lomography, probably only knew it one or two months ago. so far i have only developed one roll of film which was completed from vivitar's 1st roll. the rest of the rolls have yet to be completed. and yeah, i basically burnt a LARGE LARGE hole in my pocket buying all those cameras within just one or two months!
i have one friend who has the Blackbird, Fly from Superheadz. it's pretty cool too! i have another friend who is considering to get a holga 135BC! oh i know there's a 35mm back for the holga 120 models! so basically you can use both 120 medium format film and 35mm film. even for diana+ and diana F+ models, they do have that back too. i know that because i have one.
and i'm planning to get the fisheye lens for my diana F+ TOMORROW! could not really find it around online without having to import it from overseas or from lomo website... lucky there's a lomo embassy here, though i think the lens will be really expensive. but oh well... all for the love of lomography!
and i really want to know how to develop my own photos! it seems so interesting!
