So I've been searching a while for some surreal, kind of sci-fi/fantasy novels

if anyone's watched Heaven's Bookstore (Tengoku no Honya), it's kind of like that style. or even Moonlight Jellyfish (despite it's not being scifi or fantasy, it had that mood)

i suppose scifi/fantasy would be a great plus, but i think i'm really looking for something kind of.. different. more thoughtful and sort of soul-searching like.

i've already checked out a lot of haruki murakami (i love his books.) and i'm reading some yasunari kawabata, yukio mishima, and banana yoshimoto. any recommendations? haha

i would love it if i could find heaven's bookstore (the book) :\ (but it's yet to be translated into english.. if there are any plans for it)

or, you could even recommend me a film
anything like heaven's bookstore or moonlight jellyfish or the girl who leapt through time (tokikake)

I quite liked Taichi Yamada's Strangers. There's a review here if you're interested. And also, Out by Natsuo Kirino is very engaging, definitely worth the read. You also won't go terribly wrong with most of Kazuo Ishiguro's works - apparently Never Let Me Go has sci-fi overtones, but I would definitely recommend A Pale View of Hills and An Artist of the Floating World.

i love Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto and Kazuo Ishiguro's works are also good choices
