Yesterday i got an unlocked Softbank 911T, I was wondering if i need a 3G simcard (i have a 2G optus prepaid sim) to use some of the features? like it keeps asking me if i want to "start retrieval network info" and when i press yes, it says "retrieval network info failed". i dont understand and the instruction manual doesnt help at all.

Will it work if i change to 3 prepaid? i still want to stay with prepaid but how much will it cost to get a new sim card from 3, just the sim card?
Or i could change to Optus 3G, would that work?

and what is a USIM? do i need one of those for this mobile because i think i do

Also can i use internet on the phone because its a japanese phone so i'm not sure, and if yes then how?

I'm REALLY confused, please help!!

i'm guessing that the phone is trying to find the softbank network, and when you press "yes" and it can't find it, it's telling you that it failed.

as for the internet, i'm going to guess you can't use it.

all this is guessing. i'm not on softbank, i'm with au, and when i took my phone home, i could only use it as an alarm clock and camera...no internet, no mail,,,

i don't know about the 911t but mine and other softbank mobile users here in oz can't use the email or internet functions in the phone. Also there are some functions in the phone are onli available to those who are in japan
