Does anyone here read Jodi Picoult's books? Her books are just amazing. The book covers make them seem like typical chick lit, but they're actually really serious and deal with heavy issues. I just wanted to recommend her books to anyone who loves to read, especially

My Sister's Keeper - this one's a tearjerker, and I don't cry easily.

Anna is not sick, but she might as well be. By age thirteen, she has undergone countless surgeries, transfusions, and shots so that her older sister, Kate, can somehow fight the leukemia that has plagued her since childhood. The product of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, Anna was conceived as a bone marrow match for Kate - a life and a role that she has never questioned… until now. Like most teenagers, Anna is beginning to question who she truly is. But unlike most teenagers, she has always been defined in terms of her sister - and so Anna makes a decision that for most would be unthinkable… a decision that will tear her family apart and have perhaps fatal consequences for the sister she loves. My Sister's Keeper examines what it means to be a good parent, a good sister, a good person. Is it morally correct to do whatever it takes to save a child's life… even if that means infringing upon the rights of another? Is it worth trying to discover who you really are, if that quest makes you like yourself less?

I read "My Sister's Keeper". it was amazing; the ending especially. Realization of what the ending meant was heartbreaking.

I picked up "The Pact", but I haven't had a chance to really read it yet.

Anyways, if anyone is interested in matters of bioethics of the past, present and future, Jodi Picoult books are really good. smile.gif

Euthanasia, Mercy Killing, Patient Rights, Autonomy, Informed Decision Making... everything!

I read My Sister's Keeper also. and it was a very good book. I know I cried. -___-. lol.

I havent had the chance to pick up any of her other books. mainly I didn't see one that drawn me to it too much. but then again, My Sister's Keeper was out of pure luck that I picked it outta the bookstore. I do recommend this book. it's very good.

Fanning sisters set for 'Keeper'
Duo join Cameron Diaz in Nick Cassavetes film

New Line Cinema has set siblings Dakota and Elle Fanning to star with Cameron Diaz in "My Sister's Keeper," the Nick Cassavetes-directed adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel. Production begins this March in Los Angeles.

Elle Fanning will play a young girl who sues for emancipation from her parents. Mom and Dad conceived her as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister's life.

Jeremy Leven wrote the script, and Mark Johnson will produce. Both teamed with Cassavetes and New Line on "The Notebook."

Pic marks the first time that the girls will work in scenes together on a film; both appeared in "I Am Sam."

The girls are younger than they were in Picoult's novel, but a decision was made to cast them younger because it was age-appropriate for Diaz.

Dakota Fanning recently completed the ensemble drama "Winged Creatures" with Kate Beckinsale and Forest Whitaker and is in Hong Kong shooting "Push," a Paul McGuigan-directed drama with Chris Evans and Djimon Honsou. Elle Fanning recently completed "Benjamin Button" and the indie drama "Phoebe in Wonderland," and she just completed "Nutcracker: The Untold Story," in which she has the starring role.

I've had a lot of recommendations from my bookworm friends to read any of Jodi Picoult's books, so I firmly believe they're really good.

On a little side note, I read on comingsoon.net a few months ago that they were going to turn My Sister's Keeper into a movie, possibly starring Cameron Diaz (as the mother, which my friends think is a really bad choice).

I haven't heard any further news lately though.

Wow, all of my favorite books are being made into movies..

Dakota Fanning is NOT how I imagined Anna or Kate. She looks so young too! The sisters are supposed to be teenagers~!

I really enjoyed Harvesting the Heart also.
My Sister's Keeper is Picoult's best work though, in my opinion. smile.gif
