I'm Jiwu (Male). My ambition is to be a model (my model idols are Jo In Sung, Gong Yoo, Ji Sub) but I have bad posture. How can I correct it? What exercises should I do? What sleep position should I do? When I try straighten my back it either exaggerated (like a soldier) or curved (when I don't try)... And another problems are I have short neck and I noticed that my shoulder length are shorter than usual even I stretched (I feel some pain on when I'm doing this). My chest seems ok but my shoulder bones shaped curved and the length is shorter than usual.

So far my solution is to lift weights everyday.

No discouraging pls. Thanks.

New Question:
I can't breathe while holding my stomach. What should I do?

lol i have the same problem but i haven't done anything to fix my posture.. but i hear the best way to correct posture is by using one of those medicine ball chairs, you can buy em at any fitness place. basically when you sit on em you keep your back straight and then boom you're correcting your back while sitting infront of a tv/computer whatever lol

I have scoliosis and I used to wear a corsett, Anyway, some years ago my doctor gave me a paper with exercises that would improve my posture. One of them was situps/crunches. I can't remember the rest but if I find the paper I'll scan it. Good luck with becoming a model! I wanna become one too!

edit: I don't think the way you sleep matters that much. But I've always thought sleeping on your back is better?

I'm assuming you have a gym membership. Go use the back extension machine. Basically it's like a reverse curl so you're getting an abdominal workout but mainly, you're hitting your hip flexors and your lower back (which are the main muscles for good posture). Also, to get a good feel of what good posture is supposed to be like, while standing, lean against a wall (on your back) and stand until your head, shoulders, and butt touch the wall. That's correct posture and that's how you should walk around.

Try exercises that utilize your core muscles - pilates may be good. Also hold in your stomach at times and feel the difference in your posture then work those muscles

One of the fashion show co-ordinators told me that if we stand against the wall every day it will give us good posture. First find a wall, feet together and stand agianst the wall. Then make sure you heels, calves, butt, shoulder blade, and head are all touching the wall. (everywhere else shouldn't be) Suck in your tummy and stand agianst the wall for at least 5 mins. It's very important that your shoulders be fully against the wall. Not just the middle, but all the way across. Hope this helps tongue.gif

Stand straight against the wall for 10minutes each day. Make sure your shoulders touch the walls , as well as your head, heels of your feet and butt, no where else should be touching though. Do it every day and you should start to find yourself standing straighter.

work your lower abs (leg raises), upper abs (crunches), obliques (side crunches), and lower back (reverse crunches).

also i hear sleeping in harder mattresses helps straight (if that's a verb) the posture.

I want to wear that when I was still young. Anyway I'll do that exercises. Thanks.

Yeah I will when I got my allowance again to pay for the gym. When I was doing boxing I tried that back extension machine. My trainer always wants me to work with it (maybe he noticed my posture). I will go back to gym and work with it again and a lot. Thanks.

Ooo maybe that tip is effective coz models are using it. Ok I'll try that 5min exercise (I'll make it 15mins). Thanks.

Ok I might sleep on the floor LOL (I'll try this seriously, sometimes I do this and looks like it's effective). Thanks.
