Anyway. I recommend both. I feel that the treadmill is more cardio than elliptical; however, elliptical probably gives better tone to the legs.
But overall, losing weight is best with group fitness like KickBoxing or Zumba or some type of Aerobics. Swimming is also good. It is best to rotate exercise routines. I am obsessed with the gym so I do everything and change it up everyday.

And I don't know how to properly do it. I have one free personal training session though maybe i should just do that.

Hi Shiroyuki,
Yep it does, as long as you do the real swimming and not just playing in the pool, like I do.. =P =D
If that's you on your avvy, your face doesn't look fat..So stop doing the Blue Steel's Magnum look.. =D haha

i like the elliptical because its easy on your shins. when i had shin splints, i used the elliptical a lot. but i find myself using the treadmill more lately. but i feel pavement running is the best. i feel like a cheater when i use the treadmill to run... but its too freaking cold outside.  Â

Treadmill will give you a good cardio and aerobic work out and you can make it difficult with incline etc. Also it has a higher weight bearing component especially with you jog or run on it. You will be applying more weight through your legs which helps overall with bone growth etc
Where as Elliptal is good for arms etc but there is a componenet of less "boudning" action as your legs are these stands which then turn, you as each time you go on it, you aren't stressing the weight onto your legs as much therefore thw weight bearing component has decrease so there is likley to be less bone growth stimulation. Its really good for older people and people you have knee problems when using a treadmill.
But if you are all healthy and all..prob a mix of the two is good.
