I was more like a shopping fiend XD
I spent total of uh... $300+ o_____o I mean if you love shopping, and if you are a girl.
You will love Korean clothes there soo much. There's a lot of sales there too!
I bought this set of clothes, original price was $68 in american dollar and sale went down to $12!!! >__<
You need at least $500 O_O;; + Plane ticket was... uh I didn't pay for the plane ticket :X
But my uncle paid it for me for like $1,500 in american money @___@;;

I always stay with my family so I don't have to pay for food and boarding.
I usually spend at least $300-$400 shopping...
But altogether It will be expensive if you have to sleep in hotels.

Did you stay at family? your own place?
Party Animal? Shopping Fiend?
I'm going this summer but I need to know about how much I'm going to need to get from the parents
Thanks everyone <3
-plane ticket (round trip) =$2,600(?) around there but w/ another person so i guess divide that cost if you want to know the price of going alone.
-hotel & family
-shopping & etc.= $6,000 +/- but make sure you smuggle in more $$$ just in case (through other friends and such b/c there is a limit, believe it or not....)
-so, total was close to spending $10,000
splurging is awesome when you're there^___^

But I actually know how much it was.... about US$1,200.
I went for a Media Exchange as I"m a journalist from one of the Asean countries.
Oh and we stayed at Hotel Sejong in Myeongdong for a while.
It's quite nice and its not as expensive.

I stayed with family, and I didnt really Buy any electronics because I already have a nice mp3+camera.
Clothes are only expensive if you shop stupidly/in Gamnam/Hongdae/Itaewon. If you go to some of the less lush gu's you can find the same clothes for ALOT!!! less. And if you go to Dongdaemun go Late LAte at night, like between 12am - 4am. Thats when the best sales are. I never ate american food (except for kfc lol) just like $1-$2 dukkbokkee and cheap stuff at stands, and ramen and rice, and then also what my grandma cooked.

from the start, there are ticket expenses which are already exorbitant
how do you spend 10 grand alone? oh my gosh...
i go with a family of four and we spend that much prolly

tickets are around 1500 + or -
i stayed with my parents (obviously) and stayed at a hotel with my friend (her mother paid for the room)
shopping-wise, i spent about 500 dollars (probably more including food) but if i had more money, i would have definitely spent it.
the hard part is that the little things build up.
like food and shopping bags (because u have to pay like 50 cents for shopping bags or so)

Air China offers:
LAX --> Beijing --> Incheon = $600 - $700 (depending on season)
Cons:
- Air China isn't on the list for "the safest plane ride" nor for "good service" = unreliable
- notorious for having delyed flights
hey but it beats KAL prices!

I'm not saying it's good to spend a lot of money but I think to criticize others based on your point of view is not the most open minded thing to do. Some people just spend more on others especially while traveling...
I think I spent around a thousand on shopping alone because I like to buy electronics in Korea. My parents paid for plane tickets and hotel expenses and whatnot.

Anyways, I had $800 to spend for fun but I ended up only spending $200 because my relatives and friends bought me everything (i.e., clothes, food, shoes, etc.). So in total, I spent $2240 during the summer. But if you are not living with your relatives or your relatives don't like to spoil you, prepare to spend way more than 200 bucks, especially if you like to buy name brand things.
Once you arrive in Korea, you'll be spending on little things and big things every single day because the price is so cheap and they sell things EVERYWHERE (on the streets, in the subway stations (even on the floor..but mostly old grandpas and grandmas sell food like ginseng there), etc). There are no taxes when you buy things. So if something costs 1000 Won, you just way 1000 Won. I lived with my grandma and sometimes with my friends so everything was free for me.
You're really lucky that you're going to Korea. Have fun because you'll definitely miss it when you go back home! And be prepared to buy extra luggages if you're a shopaholic. I brought back home 8 luggages and a box of books lol.
