But aspartame is worse (diet drinks)... So if you really must drink soda, go for the actual soda and not the diet versions. Though I avoid soda altogether.
Same with juice. Most juices in the US are made from concentrate. Which means that the companies don't actually have to reveal how they got to that 'concentrate'. Some juices (like V8, those tricky bastards) put high fructose corn syrup, a sweetener that is nearly four times as sweet as sugar, in juice.
so read the ingredients and use your head =]

But when you put milk or sugar in it, well...yeah.
Starbucks is evil in that way.
I've heard that Ra is a fan of fondue parties.

I'd say juice is only okay when it's 100% real fruit juice, none of the fake flavored stuff.
Yes of course sugar can make you fat. Actually the worst calories are liquid ones in juices, coffee (starbucks) etc.

If you consume more sugar than you should well your body converts the glucose into
fat. Thus, you gain weight.
Try to avoid juice. People say it's made from fruit but come on...juice is loaded with
sugar. If you want a little bit of sugar have half an apple or half a banana.

You'll obviously get fat if you consume large amounts of it.
You'll end up being a toothless fatty.

ROFLMAO, toothless fatty.
yeh sugary foods is even worse than fatty meats....argh....i eat so much chocolate each day so i get so many cavities as well as flab.
abt the coffee...i guess it's not that bad if u use skim milk and not that much sugar in it...i have heard that coffee, being a stimulant, boosts ur metabolism.
and dont drink those juices like cordial, drink homemade orange juice and stuff....im lucky that i really detest soft drinks like Coke and hate cordial even more, because they're so full of sugar, rot your teeth, and full of sodium.

Protein 4 calories a gram
Fat 9 calories a gram
Alcohol 7 calories a gram
Sugar falls under the carbohydrate category and yes they can make you fat if you consume too much. Just look at your overall diet and adjust accordingly

I disagree that aspartame is worse. There seems to be some debate about artificial sweeteners among consumers but my teachers have yet to tell me they're harmful. If we're just comparing diet vs regular soda, diet is definitely better based on the fact that it provides 0 calories from added sugar while regular has loads.
And the American Dietetic Association's position on high fructose corn syrup is that "there is insufficient evidence to conclude that HFCS alters metabolism to uniquely promote deposition of body fat or greater food intake"... so there's really nothing distinctively harmful about high fructose corn syrup compared to regular table sugar... Nothing that we know of so far
