a smoker who works out or not, that person still has big chance of getting black lungs, the cancer
http://www.cancer.org/docroot/NWS/content/..._Exercising.asp
Some men believe leisure time exercise or a physically demanding job can reduce their risk of lung cancer from smoking cigarettes, but they are wrong, researchers said in the International Journal of Cancer (Vol. 98: 770-773).
The researchers were led by Lisa H. Colbert, PhD, from the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Md. They looked at information from 27,000 smoking men from Finland ages 50 to 69 who were part of a trial to look at the effects of vitamins on the risk of developing lung cancer.
Lifestyles of Men Were Studied
As part of the study, the men answered questions about other lifestyle factors such as the amount of physical exertion that was part of their work. They also were asked about the types of leisure time activity they engaged in over the past year.
Other questions dealt with on the job exposures such as asbestos as well as the types of food the men ate as part of their regular diet.
Exercise Did Not Help
The results were very simple: hard work did not lower the risk of lung cancer in men who smoked. Also, vigorous leisure time physical activities did not decrease the chances of developing lung cancer.
The only slightly positive finding in the study was in men age 50 to 56. In this group, if they were physically active as part of their leisure activities, there was about a 25% decrease in the chances of being diagnosed with lung cancer.
But, when the men turned 57, that benefit went away. In this study, if you were a man over age 56, exercising did not reduce your chance of developing lung cancer.
As the authors noted, the large size of the study means the findings are probably accurate. In addition, of the over 27,000 men in the study, more than 1,400 developed lung cancer.
Because of this study, exercise joins the list of myths that something other than stopping smoking (or not starting in the first place) can truly reduce a mans risk of getting lung cancer.

the thing is, it really depends on your body to start out with. There are plenty of people who live a very short life despite the fact they are non smokers. and there are smokers that live a long ass time (like my great grandma who died when she was in her 90's)

smoking is just really bad. in a short amount of time, you can get lung cancer and all.
but it does really depend. besides. non-smoker can eat well. hahaha.
andddddddd.. how can a smoker exercise? they probably can't even breathe properly after a while O_o

aim for the greater good.
i say both are just as bad.
but if the non-smoker eats a healthy diet, the non-smoker will ALWAYS win out

I guess a smoker inhales those bad chemicals in his lungs
and it's not healthy
but it rly depends .. what if the smoker rly rly works out
and the non-smoker is like .. overweight
but still, a smoker is still unhealthier
