Definitely not the best in the series. The entire story is just basically stopping the other nation from taking over, that's it. A really basic story IMO and that's why to me this game sucked big time. There's weak character development; you never really get attached to any of them. The battle system was pretty fun though.

^ I'm gonna have to say the opposite.

Even though the story was lackluster, they put it together really well like a literature which is why I had trouble understanding it at times. sweatingbullets.gif It's true that there isn't MUCH character development but I really liked all of them because everything fit like their voice acting which made them so real to me. The graphics were really good but that's not something you wouldn't expect and I really liked all the different architect/landscape they incorporated. And yes, the battle system really did it for me.

Btw Idk if this deserved its own thread..

I didn't enjoyed playing FFXII. The whole battle system ruined it for me. It wasn't challenging and strategic. You basically sit there and let them fight on their own. The plot was okay but there is no real drive from the main character Vann. I feel like he's just there cuz they gave him the lead. Beside that, he's just flat out annoying. Now that I think about it, I never really finished the game. LOL.

It's alright.

I never got attached to any of the characters (bar balthier and fran, who are just badass wub.gif), especially vaan, who wasn't even relevant to the game's plot.

the battle system took a LOT of getting used to, but I have to say I quite liked it in the end though. I loved the gambit system and the license points.

plus, I found it HARD! haha. I love a challenge.

Eh. I sort of miss the old battle system also XD. After playing FF12 for a while, i've realized... i miss Auron of FF10 ):. I just wanted to know people's opinion of this game, so is it bad that i made a thread about it? o_o Fran is awesome XD she's one of my favorites

I definetely prefer the active dimension battle than the active time battle, but the characters are not very attractive, there is not love story etc.
The game is pretty long, i've finished it in about 100h.

played it for an hour or so and just never touched it afterward. i was really turned off by the more western style battle system and the european flavoured story crazy.gif. didnt appeal to me at all. it was rather disappointing even after ffx2 for me. bleh... im hoping the new ff for PS3 will make up biggrin.gif

i thought the game was good. Never beat it, just became kinda bored with it. Not because it's boring, but i enjoyed how you could seriously explore so much from the very beginning...and i did so...and became overpowered. Like i'm half way done with the game, but i have like 2 or 3 ultimate weapons already, everyone has the second most powerful sword. Extremely strong armor and i have so much hp, so all the monsters and even bosses are easy (the ones along the story). Though the optional bosses/hunts can still be tough, the story kinda got too easy for me so eventually i stopped playing.

I bought it for $60 when it came out, but never went about playing the game for more than 3 hours.
It's definitely interesting, but didn't get me hooked. >_>

When I first started, I definitely couldn't get into it. Played it for 5 minutes then thought I was never gonna play again. But.... I started again two days ago and now I can't get enough of it. I only have 5 hours in but I really enjoy it. Just have to get used to the battle system, then it's all good.

The only thing I thoroughly enjoyed about it was the visual style.

I wasn't a big fan of the battle system, but I thought it was a step in the right direction. I like the fact that they took a risk to make a dramatic change to the system before it got too old. Perhaps it's a precursor to greater things (FFXIII anyone?).

The soundtrack wasn't all too memorable to me. Instead of setting the mood and tone of the adventure, I thought of it as nothing more than background music. As for the story, it just wasn't my thing. Not a bad story at all, but I just thought there was a huge lack of emotional depth.

On the other hand there's also a lot of people who loved the story especially with the lack of a romantic subplot. In my opinion, the whole narrative didn't really leave the us any room to explore the characters in depth. Not that it needed to anyways, but it would have made things more interesting.

The game was okay. The graphics were great as usual for a final fantasy.
The story line was good. The music was very memoriable and i couldn't get attacted to any of the characters.
I really didn't like the battle system, it made fights take ages.

i forgot this game came out and i started playing a few days ago. so far i dont like vaan. and i was like "OMG THEY MADE THEM HAVE ACCENTS AND EVERYTHING" and i thought it was just a bit silly. :x
the only reason im playing is for fran bc shes a viera and vieras are my favorite race to use in final fantasy tatics advance. i still play it from time to time even though its like 5 years old.... they should make another tatics xD;;;
someone mentioned the soundtrack and to be honest, i love whatever ive heard so far, but only because it's nostalgic of the music from ffta.

I only played like about 30 minutes in and hated it...like once I reached the dessert/outside the gate, I stopped playing...I was expecting the gameplay to be sorta reflective of Kingdom Hearts...I was totally wrong..

i think FFXII is more suitable for a western taste in games. i still prefer the old Turn Based.

the gameplay is pretty fun and original, but you do have to spend countless hours grinding to get buffed.

the most interesting aspect imo is the fact that the main character has absolutely nothing to do with the main storyline.
