I'm going to be a junior in about two weeks and i've been struggling with SAT's and GPA's. Let's just say that my scores for both are pretty below average(compared to what i've seen around soompiers!)

and i kind of need major help in what i want to do in the future, because i know that i have to decide really soon on what i want to major in. and im very scared for my future because i kind of messed up my sophomore year and i want to get back up and go to a pretty good college. like.......how did you guys choose what you wanted to be?
any recommendations?
any help is fine, i'll take them! smile.gif

^ me? I love art, and designing. So I'm probably going to major in Fashion Design.
But I also have a hobby of writing so I might want to major in Journalism or Creative Writing.

If you want to find a major for yourself, I suggest you choose what it is you like. Try to find your hobbies and match
them with similar majors' colleges have. ^^

I had big plans to go into University and try to become a teacher since I'm REALY good at English and History, but after my less than stellar marks in math and physics (had both in the same semester and couldn't focus on one without sacrificing the other, but I'm good a practical math skills), I've decided to spend my senior year improving my skills to become an automotive mechanic and go to trade school.

I've ALWAYS had mechanic on the backburner since I have a huge love of cars, and I'd be able to work with my hands. However, If I become a journeyman mechanic out of trade school, I can work in the industry for maybe 10 or 20 years, and possibly start my own garage, or even route back to becoming an automotive teacher.

All I can say is, if you like it, go for it. What you like can easily correspond with your major.
The time it takes for me to look at you is the time it takes for me to realize it's too late.

Right now I'm a sophomore in HS, and I've only just started looking and seriously thinking about colleges. HAHA my ideas for the future--- my parents say that I am dreaming too high and probably not going to be able to finish them all. But here goes:

-Physician's Assistant (takes 6 years- need to find a good college that offers that program)
-English as a Second Language teacher to Immigrants
-Adult education for adults who haven't completed as advanced of classes (most alternative schools only offer classes for adults who are basically finished with high school/'senior year'. I want to work at/open a school for adults who haven't had the finances or time to reach that level in high school)
-Asian studies~

any college recommendations for any of the programs? Right now my parents want me to go to my state's university- University of Michigan- because that's where my older sister and cousin are going... Anywhere outside of Michigan would be great ! xD

Definitely want to be in the science field.

I'm still pretty unsure of what I want to be in the future though.
Any suggestions?

junior here
and i want to be in pre-med
i've decided that and nothing else
although a double major would be nice,
pre med will probably be hard enough.

I plan to start college at a community college school and then transfer to a university.
I'm still undecided about what university to attend.
But I am thinking about going to one that's close to home.
Major? I might major in Education, Business, or Communication.
Either of those, but education is the one that I'm heading towards

*sigh* I'm turning junior in just couple of weeks,
and I'm not even sure of my major yet ;_; everyone here
seems to be on the right track.

My parents want me to go into nursing or somewhat to
the medical section, but I'm not this memorization kind of person
not to mention my horrible math&science skills, gah.

I honestly do not know much about each majors.
Only those main ones such as nursing, psychology,
graphic designer, etc. o_____o; gosh, I fail. lol.

I wish there was some sort of an website which lists
all the majors & the descriptions. Is there? lol.

I want to double major in Law & Economics. That would be really awesome, although it will be very hard.

there's no such thing as a pre-med major btw
most pre-med students are biology majors though

I'll be heading as a junor soon. To be honest, I am scared.
Extremely nervous. I messed up my freshman & sophomore years.
Sophomore year I did improved but not the best GPA.
Is there a possibly that I can still be accepted to UC if
great score on SAT & perfect GPA? sad.gif

Currently a Sophomore. (:

I want to become a dentist. So most likely I will be majoring in Biology. Get my B.A. and move on to Dental school (i think that's the way it works). If everything goes as planned and I do all my studying correctly, I shall be done before I'm thirty. LOL. I also want to minor in business because I want to open up a little snack-bar restaurant near schools so that students can come by and eat whenever they're on break or hungry. LOL.

I am considering University of the Pacific because they have a pre-dental program on their Stockton campus and a dental school in San Francisco. But I don't want to go to college in the same city I've lived in for years. o-o So yeah.

_______________goodbye my luckless romance♥

How does one go about deciding that they want to major in business? Don't you
have to have this knack for convincing/persuading people?

For me, I am now leaning towards Elementary Education with a dual major
in English Language & Literature. I think I work well with kids especially
1st graders. I don't know..I always clicked when it came to kids that were
around 6-12 years old. But I hear that Elementary teachers aren't in demand..is that true?
I thought that it would be easier to find work because you can't ever really
run out of teachers. I know the salary kind of sucks but I am seriously not in
it for the money. It's just something I can see myself doing for the rest of my life
and not go insane/bored. Just because teaching always has something new in store.
Different students, different needs, new challenges, plus the difference of making
a change in one's life.

HAHA I don't know why I wrote too much. Actually maybe because I am pretty
insecure about my future T-T.

I am currently a junior and like thealien. I too want to become a dentist.

Going to major in bio or maybe something in film. Take my DATs or take a year off. And go to dental school.

And hopefully...I can pay off my student loans in a few years. *sigh*

Taking AP bio and Adv Chem... bleh D:

haha, we have similar interests! the only thing is though..writing for english class is totally different from writing for journalism...so i think unless you have experience in it in hs or o-o reallyreally love it; doing journalism in college is like a big decision to make

i mean, not to discourage you from doing anything; just from personal experience, i consider writing as one of my hobbies too, but when i wrote my first article for journalism :x it was really different than what i expected

so yeah! i suggest if you want to or are considering doing journalism seriously, try it out before applying for it as a major :x

WOW, i was planning on doing the same thing! except leaning towards middle school and up.
and i do plan on living alone when i have a career set, so the salary is pretty decent.

I'm also planning on applying to a culinary school, (as it was my first choice), and if my parents are able to handle the tuition fees, I plan on attending one.

so basically, I want to attend culinary school and become a chef or maybe just major in education and become a teacher if my original plan doesn't work out.
