Which one do you hate more?
Being relied on for everything or being looked down on.

i personally hate to be looked down on, ive been looked down on my whole life. but if i were relied on for everything, yeah, it might be annoying but at least you know that the people that rely on you cannot live without you. But if i were relied on for everything it means that i cant fail anything, they would expect for me to do everything better.

what do you think?

ex: when i leave the house you have to come with me; when im on the phone i need you to sit right next to me to help me (translate); when im shopping i need your opinion, etc

looking down on as in: treated like a rebound board; you cannot do anything; never good enough; always the 'dumber' one; being compared, etc

but i guess being looked down on
since it's like ppl treating you like dirt
but being relied on all teh times have its bad points as well

being looked down upon is definitely worse.
at least being constantly relied on means that people need you, recognize you and hold expectations.
when people look down on you, they think you're incapable; there's absolutely nothing expected of you.
and that just makes you feel worthless.

I actually like being relied on :x (unless it gets to the point that the person depends on me for everything (which hasn't happened yet), then that gets irritating.. like "why don't you try learning this yourself?")


it makes me feel like someone thinks I'm the kind of person to depend on (if I am or am not is... I don't wanna know x_x) and makes me feel better about myself

I don't mind being relied on too much.. it does get insanely annoying if i'm in a group and everyone relies on me to do half the project though=___=
but i'd guess that would be way better than being looked down on

i would also say i'd rather be relied on...BUT it is definitely easier said than done. i just really hate making mistakes when others expect me to be perfect. but being looked down upon is awful too...i guess everyone would rather feel wanted and needed than like an extra burden.

I don't like dealing with people who have condescending attitudes, so being looked down upon gets my vote.
Personally though, I think the decision is kind of a no-brainer, since I'm sure no one likes being dismissed as someone inferior or as a subordinate to another person. I don't know...being relied on doesn't particularly strike me as anything negative, (although this may be a bit biased on my part since I've pretty much had that responsibility for as long as I can remember) because it means that people depend on you and therefore must hold you in some sort of esteem. Not only that, but the fact that they respect/rely on you can be beneficial for you as well, since it's a motivating factor to do the best that you possibly can. Much better than being treated like you're no better than dirt imo =)

I hate being looked down on.. BUT I don't really like being relied on either. I used to study abroad not too long ago and recently came back. My friends there still call me once in awhile to ask for help with their research! I'm like a few thousand miles away from them! Oh! My brother.. he's still studying abroad and he would call me here to ask for directions there instead of just calling one of his friends there..

hm... that's hard... in my family i'm the one everyone relies on and my brother is the opp. i HATE being relied on and envy my brother's nonchalant ways. he can do anything he wants and my parents only saying "well at least he's not doing drugs/at least he passed" whereas i get the "you got a A-??!! WTF is going on??!!"
but at the same time no one takes my brother seriously and i'd hate that. so being looked down on is what i'd hate even more
