And I'm not talking about he wants his album called "(N) Word" ... I'm talking about the ACTUAL N word.
Nas was also seen wearing the N word on his shirt to promote his album at the grammys. (And Kelis also wore a jacket that said the N word)
(Click here to see the pictures)

Initially, N**** was given as the title by Nas several times, including an October 12, 2007 performance at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City where he announced the title and release date, both confirmed by Haider Abed. Def Jam Recordings made no comment on the title

L.A. Reid, chairman of Def Jam Records, has confirmed that Def Jam fully backs Nas and his decision on naming his album. The album's title has received support from Jay-Z, Bishop Lamont, Alicia Keys, LL Cool J, Rev Run, Common, Akon, Method Man, Lupe Fiasco, David Banner, GZA, Melle Mel. Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube have expressed their support for Nas' new album by offering to guest on the album.

So what do you guys think about it? Isn't it awkward if you're not black, and you go to the store and say, "Hi, can I have Nas' new album, ******?"

Nobody should be saying the N word anyway, black or white, so I shouldn't say "isn't it awkward if you're not black, and you go to the store and say..."

Anyway, what's your thoughts on this?

I think this is his way to break through racial stereotyping and slurs. The way I'm thinking is that if he name his album "N*****" then it would make the word "N" less offensive to the black race, if you catch my drift? I dont think I'm not making sense but yeah. Nas already has a major influence on the world, through his lyrical rhymes and songs. I'm not surprised that he would try to break through the barrier of racial slurs and stereotyping. I would support name the album the way it is because over the years, the "N" word has drastically lost its meaning and usage. Well that's my 2 cents. lol

Sorry but Nas can't take away 100s of years worth of history behind the word.
The word was born from hatred and bigotry, and Nas naming his album that doesn't take power away from the word. It'll just make more people want to say it.
Honestly, I think he just wants to be controversial so that people will pay attention to his newest album.

Wow old news.

lol I agree with person above. Its some kind of marketing ploy. And it seems to alienate those of us who aren't black and don't have the balls to ask for the album in the store.

Eh I don't even look out for Nas anymore. I"ll stick to my Illmatic and It was written, thank you. Hell, I'll even listen to Nastradamus over his new stuff.

There's always a double standard usage of this word.

Whatever happen to words like homie and bro?
