I have to get a dorm for freshman year and I am extremely potty shy. It doesn't help that we have community bathrooms. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and how did you get over it? I can pee just ok but if I had to crap I would probably wait until everyone was out of the bathroom. lol I guess I seem silly for asking.

It wasn't a big deal. No one was even in the bathroom anyway. As much as you'd think it would be crowded in the bathroom, even on weekday mornings I always found myself alone lol.

i have the same problem as you. and even in my own apt lol.
i eventually got used to it.

No kidding, i thought i would have a problem too..
But i soon came to find that you're usually in there by yourself.
On my floor, there are plenty of bathrooms~ plus the fact that ppl have urges @ different times...
PLUS, different class schedules of course.. You're usually in there by yourself most of the time.
You'll get used to it... If not, just lock the main door until you're done.
I'm sure there's other bathrooms on the floor haha.^^

you're usually alone because of the different schedules, etc.
but even if you're not... it's totally human nature.

lol i was too but then the other girls just fart really comfortably in the stalls and act like they're all alone so i'm not so paranoid about it anymore. but i still giggle a little inside when somewhat farts though

The washrooms in my dorm are co-ed. It was pretty awkward at first, but I got used to it.
One time I went to wash to my face, and didn't think anyone was in the bathroom until I heard someone fart and a voice say "NICE". There were two guys in the bathroom taking dumps lol Their reactions were more hilarious than the fart itself.

or maybe find a suite that seperates the shower place and the toilet.

lol, it's so awkward to be brushing my teeth and hear *PLOPPLOPPLOP* coming from the toilets. I can't do that when other people are around, it's just too awkward. Most of the time when I need to go, no one else is in there. Especially in the middle of the day since everyone has classes or early in the morning since no one has early classes You'll get used to everyone's "schedule" so you'll know when there will be people in there or not. My dorm also had a private restroom on the first floor so that helped a lot.

If you have to take a crapper, it helps to bring with you a gameboy, magazine.. etc.. something to take your mind off being potty shy. When you gotta go, you gotta go right?
It's better than holding it in, and bursting later. You can also get sick by holding your poop and pee in your body too long.

lol i guess i was kinda uncomfortable at first... i remember taking the fastest crap ever! lol but very soon you get used to it.. and i started leaving "gifts" in the toilet for my roommate and suitemates occasionally lmao

yeah...i experience the same problem, so i normally go trekking around the toilets to have a look at whether anyone was in it before i went in. Ended up at the far end of the block today cos for some reason or another, every single bathroom had people in it at 3pm in the afternoon!!

hells yes... whenever i have to take a dump i turn on the shower to mask the sound so by now everybody probably knows what im doing but idc as long as it lets me take a relaxing crap

oddly I've NEVER ever heard anyone fart or make weird noises in the bathroom... however interesting conversations arise like, "so... this toilet paper... feels uhh not so awesome..." "yeah... how about that basketball game?"
