I was wondering who is currently trying to achieve two majors at the same time. If so, which courses are you taking? And are they hard? How much time do you usually spend on homework?

Thanks.

im hoping to double major is political science and economics. however, the courses for economics are giving me more trouble than i thought. mostly because i need both calc I and II and my maths skills suck a lot. the classes for poli sci though are great. econ classes usually have mucho hw and poli sci not as much.

Well, I want to do an honor's specialization in media studies and a major in business. There's definitely A LOT of homework. Media studies is just essays, reading, reading, reading and more essays so far. And Business is just doing lots of math and cases. =S I actually like my majors, and yeah, they can be challenging but if you stay on top of things, there shouldn't be a problem. biggrin.gif

I recently decided that maybe I would double major in Global and International studies and Chinese.
So far it looks really doable, but I'm thinking about going abroad and I'm not sure how the courses are going
to transfer over. I can't really say about the homework because I'm still in undergraduate courses I've only been taking pre-requisites, I start taking major course next year. =D
Love will come set me free...

i'm double majoring in film and humanities. it's not that hard if you just plan well and make sure you don't take any classes you don't have to take. i mean, i'm taking a reasonable number of credits, i spend 1-2 hours a day on homework and an extra hour just studying. the only thing that's difficult is that film classes usually make allowances for film shoots--as in, they understand when we have shoots going on, we're not gonna be in class or do any homework pretty much. the humanities classes (as well as gen ed classes) don't understand this, so when we have shoots i'm pretty much behind in all my non-film classes. but otherwise, it's fine, i've been able to keep my gpa in the 3.8-3.9 range with both majors and the honors program.

I want to double major in English Literature and Criminal Justice. Haah, everyone loves how both are at ends and have nothing to do with one another.

It will be tough, I know, because I want to do outstanding in all of my classes so I have to study a lot. On top of that, I have to work full time to pay for them >.<

I'm scared just thinking about it. But I really want to double major ^^;

Double major is doable if you're in L&S, but if you're in one of the specialized schools (i.e. engineering / pre-med / architecture, etc.) it's definitely a lot harder.

hehe~ i just mentioned double majors in another thread..

i'm taking dowble major in Business (Accounting & Marketing). It's not hard at all~ maybe that applies to me only k k ~

but the truth is that i'm having fun here.. I go to marketing class and learn more interesting stuff and i go to the accounting class to deal with numbers and accounting systems.. i really like it ...

The marketing major requires a lot. i have to read daily newspapers, the business section. I have to do projects, HWs very quickly ,,, quickly means by the next class..

and there is a major project waiting for me on MAY,, AND it's really really huge one.. and i'm little afraid.. but till now, i'm happy and there is no pressure on me.. [well don't ask me now because i really don't study that much; i spend 90% of my time on the internet, downloading, checking websites, emails..etc].. no chatting ofcourse cause it wastes my time more and more...

so double majors aren't that bad... if you really want to do both then go ahead ^^ just do what makes u more interested in going to the uni/college and helps u to learn more..

I'm a Business Econ major right (but might change to just Econ or Econ/International Area Studies concentrating in East Asia). I just recently thought about also majoring in Chinese. But, I'm a year late in the language requirement, so I'll see if I can finish every requirements by my 4th year ^^
So far, it isn't too far. Econ classes are definitely a lot harder than my Chinese classes. I gotta say, I'm having a lot more fun in my Chinese classes than I expected!

i'm currently a biochem major on the prepharmacy/premedicine track. i honestly don't know if i want to do pharm anymore.
i've always wanted to go into medicine but i'll probably take a few or several years off before even attempting to get into med school.
and the more and more i look at it i'm starting to love graphic design and photography.
i know biochem and graphic design are like on opposite ends.
but hopefully i'll be taking drawing and design classes this summer for my arts requirement.
if i really like the classes, i might consider being a double major and just kill myself over with the overload. tongue.gif

I'm double majoring in psych and soc. It's completely doable, there is a lot of reading but that is about it. In most psych classes you don't even have to write a paper or anything. However I would have to say psych is a little bit harder but it's less units.

Double major in Graphic Design and Asian Languages/Lit. I'm in a uni but I'm in two different colleges of this uni. It's kind of annoying because I had to consult with both of my advisors before scheduling and stuff like that but I'm going to be a second-year soon so consultingn advisers isn't necessary. :)

Double majoring depends on your majors. You have A LOT more credits to fulfill and yes, totally study hard. College is hard in general so double major = harder. My Graphic Design major goes right into the courses in the beginning of the semester. My ALL major doesn't have any real courses until I'm a second/third year though I'm taking a language now and I want to take more...but I'm a double major.

Having a double major = less fun classes to go to. LOL. Unless your major is fun to you. :) Though I do love the things I do within my majors, I'm love writing. I took a writing course last semester (just a fun elective) and totally found out that I should've done something else to fulfill my required classes and whatnot. ToT;;; So having a double major gives you a limited amount of fun classes.

I spend like...a million hours on homeowkr.

No, jking. But I spend half of my weekend doing homework, maybe a little more. I spend about three hours a night on homework for my various classes. Kinda depends on how many credits you're taking and how difficult they are. :P I'm taking 17 credits and my classes are difficult. For me. :)

Wooo...I ramble mucho lots.

Frankly I think its hard to double major if you have two COMPLETELY separate majors that you're studying together. I speak from experience because I was once an international relations and international business major. It was soo difficult, there was nothing in common except for the fact that I needed to learn langage. But now that I've changed major its relatively easy. I am right now under accounting (might change this later) with international business. Its like I said before, relatively easy because they're similar as they are under business (commerce) so once again, it really depends whether its hard or not depending on how common each major and required courses are to one another.

If you were one to take lets say pre-med and pre-law... that would be in my opinion, extremely difficult as they have nothing in common. One is law, one is medicine. But then again, it might not be. who knows? Its up to you

I'm a double major in History and Chemistry.

Not so hard since I love learning them, but I am an exception to the equation.

I am double majoring in political science and public health policy. Its not so bad. Its just alot of classes, since the two majors do not really match.
