What do you mean by a "big camera"? Do you mean advanced point and shoot or a DSLR? You can't get a DSLR with $300 so if you want to get him a DSLR maybe it would be better to just give him the money to save up for one?... And I honestly can't think of a "big camera" that costs less than or around $300 unless you're talking about film SLR camera.

what is this 'big camera' you're talking about? DSLR orSLR? ._____.
you can't get a 'big camera' for $300 lol
for a decent one it would be at least $500+ ....

dslr's cost a lot. =(
if you want to get him one, expect to pay about $450 minimum
maybe you can put money together with your parents?

I'd say raise your budget & get him a dSLR / film SLR.
But then, it'll be expensive.. /:
You can try talking to your parents about it though. : D

i have a question,
is there any DSLR camera that doesnt need much lens in order to take good pictures..
seems like there's WHOLE collection of lens for one DSLR camera..
one lens is enough to take pretty picture for a DSLR camera, is there a camera like that?

Then you might as well get an advanced point and shoot, like Canon PowerShot G9 or S5 IS or something...

you can get a rebel xt dSLR for $379 right now. It's a great camera!
If you plan on getting a lens too... it'll be $433 for both the camera and the kit lens.
The 18-55mm kit lens will get the job done, but it's not so great in terms of quality.
About $350 will get you a pretty decent lens (28-135mm IS USM and 17-85mm IS USM are some lenses with good reviews and image stabilization).

^he's got a good point.
don't want to forget the memory card happy.gif
you'd want to make sure you get a compact flash (CF) card with good reviews.
it can be a pain if you get a defected one... happened to me before.

Big cameras?
I'm probably you're assuming a D SLR.
The BIGGEr cameras would be D TLR and View Camera, but those can easily cost $10,000+ smile.gif
