What do you mean by good quality? Japanese cars are known to be reliable, dependable, well made cars that will last you years as long as you maintainence it.

Toyota is the worlds largest car manufacturer now?

Personally I dont like how it looks, but it being a Toyota i'm pretty sure its well made. Someone on this forum has a Solora, sorry I cant remember your name T_T

My cousin has the exact car, he loves it...all but the monthly payment. Gets pretty good gas miliage and is pretty roomy. I think its pretty reliable because he hasn't had any problems with it at all. Only thing was a flat tire when he first got it because there was a huge nail in 3 of the tires. Bad luck for him.

i actually am driving a toyota solara 2000, 2 doors. And it looks youthful and sporty enough. But it's kinda long for beginner drivers. But overall, everything works well.

Hmmmmm I wonder if the topic maker researched this before she asked us. Edmunds, motor trend, car and driver, lots of places to look up.

I think all beginner cars should be under $5 G's. You will scratch/dent/crash it anyway.

I have a 2000 solara sle. Basically to sum things up, it is a camry coupe with a lexus interior. It is a bit sportier in terms of handling compared to a camry/avalon. Visibility is ok, not great. It is however, very spacious for a coupe. I learned to drive with my dad's monster Avalon, so i killed my driving test with the Solara haha. It's a very good car for the money, but most people would rather spend their 40k CDN on a bmw or benz.

It's nice? Personally I'm not a fan of the styling, but to each their own.

Is there a certain budget you're working with? Did they have any other cars in mind?

If it's a newer solara, I'd recommend an 08 civic 2dr lx (maybe even an 07 EX) over a used solara. But that's just personal preference

i personally love my solara
its not the fastest car or the easiest to mod
but i think its classy and luxurious ride

if anything i suggest u get the v6 sport....the GE kit makes it look much better and the v6 has decent power for the car....
the i-4 is just enough for the car but might seem a bit sluggish cuz the car is heavy....the gas mileage on the i-4 is great though
if i think of anything else ill add it haha

why does it matter if you scratch/dent/crash it.... besides for 5G, youre looking at a really old car, meaning really high insurance, esp for teenagers....

also which year are you looking at
theres a change between 06 and 07s 07 being the newer style
what u have pictured is an 04-06
i never stated reliability....it is reliable, ive never had any problems with the car except the battery crapped out on me after about 1 year...it was covered under warrenty and replaced for free
but thats about it....
the v6 has a lag issue that is for the most part fixed by a reflash of the computer....which if u are buying used could have been done already
thats all i can think of at this moment......

I dont know much about insurance, but doesn't the car value play a part?

With 5 grand, you can buy A LOT of different cars. I think if someone who just got their license get's a... lets say a Porsche 911, that car being dent/scratched/crashed ...... it would suck. But if you dent/scratched/crashed a 94 volvo, it would still suck yes, however the way I look at it (in terms of repair cost/money) wouldn't suck as bad. But then again if you have enough money to buy your 16 year old a Porsche.... i'm sure you wouldn't be worrying too much about repair costs or money.
