Genre: Remake, Horror

Director: Marcus Nispel (also directed the remake of Texas Chainsaw)

Filming: April 8, 2008 - ????

Release Date: February 13, 2009

Plot: Looking to reopen a camp for special need kids a group of councilors encounter a snag in their plans when an unknown person begins to pick them off one by one.

Trivia: The first film in the franchise released by both New Line Cinema and Paramount Pictures. Originally, Paramount owned the rights to the series after the original was released in 1980 but sold the rights to New Line Cinema in 1990 after poor box office returns of Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989). New Line bought the rights to the characters of Jason Voorhees and Pamela Voorhees, the Crystal Lake name, and the trademark for the title "Friday the 13th". All footage from the first eight films and the remake rights for the first film remained the property of Paramount. New Line Cinema released Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993), Jason X (2001) and Freddy vs. Jason (2003)t. When Platinum Dunes came aboard to develop the new film, they wanted the freedom to use scenarios and characters from the films still owned by Paramount. After a legal dispute, the companies decided to co-produce the 2009 film.

Other:
- Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, writers of Freddy vs. Jason, were announced in October 2007 to have been hired to pen a script for the remake

Ugh, ANOTHER remake! Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, The Hitcher, The Hills Have Eyes and now this. Why does Hollywood feel the need to remake everything these days? They should have put the Jason franchise to bed a long time ago, most remakes suck in my opinion.

The greatest crime would be allowing Rob Zombie near this or any other movie, regardless of genre, remake or not. Halloween 2007 is one of the worst films I have ever seen.

TCM (Biel version, not TCM:Beginning) & HHE remakes had their fair share of problems, but they were ok at best.

F13 (and NoES) will always be awesome as long as you don't count past 3. Anything more was just a poor attempt to milk and ruin the respective franchises.

Saw it last night and it really did better than I expected.
The cons was that it felt too rushed and not enough gore (well imo, haha)
Also, too much nudity!

LOOL. I agree.
I only saw about an hour of it during my breaks (I work at a theater)... but there was a lot of nudity.
Seriously, was it even necessary?
Eh, it was alright though. I'll finish it someday.

That the most basic premise for the Jason series. Camp counselors at a special needs camp or camp in general put their children to bed and sexual frivolity ensues bringing forth Jason to teach the counselors much needed responsibility.

Watched it on Sunday, it was ok, but if you see one, you pretty much seen it all.

The movie theater I went to turned their volume on really loud so every time there's a scary screen, even if it wasn't scary, the volume makes me jump anyways. Overall, the movie is something you can watch to kill time, but don't expect to walk out of the movie and thinking that it was one of the best movie there is.

Another thing that annoys me a bit was the crazy amount of nudity and sex scenes. I understand that most killer movie have those type of stuff, but it felt like the director just wanted to add a naked chick in everything.

It was far too predictable. You could tell when Jason would appear.. It was when an individual was just alone and some eerie music came into play. The sound effects scared the crap out of my friend, who was next to me and shook whenever it scared him, thus scaring me lol. Not worth your money.. The guys must've enjoyed the girls in it though. They were easy, hot, and stupid.

LOL,watched it yesterday.
my friend thought she was watching a porno the whole time. eh

& yeah, the volume scared the crap out of me, i knew when Jason was going to pop up, but woah, it was so loud.
and also, that was the longest intro/beginning ever. ahaha, after the whole story in the beginning, i even forgot that they didn't show the title of the movie yet.

and the ending, how typical smile.gif
but hey, Aaron Yoo was in it,although his character was a douche

I saw this movie on Friday the 13th and I really enjoyed it. Jared looked really good. It was nice to see some classic Jason!

i liked the movie! i grew up watching friday the 13th, it was funny when trent screamed like a b*tch when bree was thrown on the cop car. the only thing that irked me a little was Jason "ran" and usually Jason stalks, he doesnt need to run.

I wish they would stop remaking horror films
I didn't really like it
Original was far better.

I'm one of those people that'll watch any movie if it has a favourite actor of mine in it. In this case, that's Aaron Yoo. I never cared for the movie in general. If Aaron Yoo wasn't in it, I probably wouldn't have bothered watching it in theatres and just waiting for it to come on DVD for Danielle Panabaker.

The first part of it with the original teenagers was crap. There was no point in it but to show a bunch of naked girls and semi-naked guys. Then again, it was the same for the second part as well.

It definitely was predictable, but I'm glad I did watch it so I could get my Aaron Yoo fix (I pretended that he was still alive, ROFL).

PS: Wtf with that ending?

Now I gotta go find the original.

^ Lol I watched it for Aaron Yoo too.
His character was obnoxious (like most of the others), but I think he played his role really well as he usually does.
I hated how his character died first though.. and the way he was killed is freaky. haha

Anyway I thought this movie in general was not that great.
There was too much nudity and it was predictable like everyone said.
The ending was kind of surprising though I wasn't expecting that.

Aaron/Chewie didn't die first, unless my brain is working the wrong way. The two at the lake were killed first. Or do you just mean the first to die from all that was in the house?

I didn't care if Chewie was obnoxious, hah. I loved his character.

My bf dragged me to watch it, I didnt enjoy until I saw Aaron Yoo lol. He has a pretty bad character but he played it well i guess. The movie pretty made Jason like a PERFECT killer. He was there and now hes over there! wtf! almost everyone die instant death so that was pretty much boring, not that i need a long torture scene, but just sooo boring? -__-

mmmm.... wasn`t worth the money i`d say. i saw it last night at 12:30 am and i still wasn`t scared.
the fact that it was way too unrealistic destroyed the scary factor in the movie. like... how does jason ALWAYS know where everyone is automatically? he`d be in the house one second and out the next. way too predictable. he also had some strange super strength going on

ps. ending ruined everything.
i`m sure jason had a jetpack strapped on his back to shoot out from the water like that... and resurrect from the dead.

less than three
