I've never been good with techs..so i have a question for anyone that knows anything about external HDs...and i know it could be a simple deal.
So I've been using my HD for some time now, and it suddenly became unrecognized by my laptop when I turn it on. So why does/did that happen, and does anyone know what i can do to fix it?? Because I have alot of important documents saved in there.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks a bunch!!

Theres always the basic when you turn it on, does windows make the sound that USB is connected?
Can you try a different cable?
Go to disk management to see if its showing up properly...
Start > Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management... go down to Disk management at the left and see if it shows up in the window.
grr picture = thousand words!

Try a different USB port?
You might have to take the drive apart to put the hard drive into another case... those circuits that convert hard drive to USB do sometimes fail.
