Ugly is right. Your mum is just trying to scare you.
I'm surprised you don't have scars from popping zits, but more power to you. I wouldn't do it if I get one...never did it. Anyway, you normally get it right away and it gets these weird red craterse afterwards----on black people it's more like purplish in colour. If you don't get it within a relatively close time to when you popped them---then your safe.

I was wondering this too, my mother said the same thing to me. And she actually does have a few. So I'm assuming it's true?

(I have them -.- I hate it)
Sorry if this is off topic, but o.o Is there any way to prevent them, cause I get them, regardless if I pop my zits or not, they just happen. And only on my cheeks. They are terrible. Like even if I leave them alone and add medicine, they leave those red craters. -.- And there isn't a way to heal them, is there...

if you pick at it too deep and too wide, the top layer of epidermis cells won't be able to connect over the opening thus it won't heal over. instead you'll have the dark connective tissue (forgot the name.... ) filling in the gap. that's the "craters" that are left. its immediate scarring.
