Plot Outline
Based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's mistress.

Cast
Rachel McAdams - Della Frye
Jason Bateman - Dominic Foy <-This was supposed to be James McAvoy's role tears.gif
Russell Crowe - Cal McAffrey
Ben Affleck - Stephen Collins

Trivia
*Brad Pitt and Edward Norton originally signed on for the movie that would have reunited them for the first time since Fight Club (1999). However, Pitt pulled out before Thanksgiving 2007, when rewrites were made impossible because of the writers' strike. He was replaced by Russell Crowe. Pitt's departure delayed the start of shooting, and made Norton unavailable as he was committed to start shooting Leaves of Grass (2009) in January. He was replaced by Ben Affleck.
*After Brad Pitt departed from the film, and before Russell Crowe replaced him, other actors considered for the role of Cal McCaffrey were Johnny Depp and Tom Hanks.

I wanna see the original series with James McAvoy & Bill Nighy in it more, but can't find it around here...

I think you forget 'Helen Mirren' in Bill Nighy role's tongue.gif

i like the series, so naturally i'm a bit skeptical about this film--of course, the bill nighy-helen mirren switch can be interesting.

I watched it recently without knowing its plot, actors and never heard of any promotion

The outcome : I really like it.

I started to watch it without high expectations and it turned out well to me
Great casts. Intelligent humors. Deep message.

Im satisfied biggrin.gif
