Hey does anyone think that the new AIM 6.5 is annoying?
ive had it for a while and still cant get use to it despite using AIM since the 4.8 version.
Now, they have even added ads in the profiles.

i guess being able to add pictures and having a status bar is useful,
but adding all these addition stuff is really not needed.
opinions?

use a third-party messanger such as:
Pidgin
Trillian
or
MirandaIM

Bypass all of the ads, though you might lose features like video calling (in pidgin) among other things.

I actually like Aim 6.5 more...
it's more simple..
but now , they added ads to the profiles.. on the bottom..

i stopped using aim since 5.9, now i just use pidgin, which i feel is so much better than AIM, its just that when you want to check someones profile it takes a littl ebit more clicking.

I'm still on Aim 5.9. I despise the layout for 6.0+. It's such a resource hog....

^As am I. I refuse to download the new version. I like the old version lol. The thing that bothers me a lot is the away message situation. For some reason whatever away message I use it like stays as my away FOREVER even when I come back. Like if at night I put "shower" and when I come back I press I'm back. The next day people would IM me and be like, You're still taking a shower? And I'm like WTF.

i hate the new aim versions. >[ the little "i" dot next to the person's sn when they change their profile is annoying as heck & the new ad is also stupid.. i wish they still let us download the older version of aim... the one before everything got changed and icky

if anyone remembers ICQ (mostly defunct now. its owned by aol) it was hugely popular, then it got bloated then...it had massive ads all over the place. i can sorta see AIM going the same route... although i dont really use AIM

for some reason i cant download any of the newest versions of aim, i have the realyl old one..

so i actually use gmail or trillian instead,
its much neater and "cleaner" xD

I'm still using AIM 5.5 hahah. I'm old-fashioned and can't handle drastic changes. I kinda despise AIM 6+

AIM was using up too much resources for my liking so I switched.
I used AIM LITE for a while. It was okay but the UI was annoying a bit. The features I usually used were difficult to adjust to.

Trillian was alright but I didn't find myself using it for more than a day. Again, the UI threw me off.

Now I've settled for Pidgin
I believe it's the equivalent of Adium on a Mac.
No ads, buddy list is straight to the point, doesn't hog resources.

Yeah I have aim 6.0 I think. =T I hardly use it.
On my old laptop I used 5.9 or something. It was simple.
The new laptop had 6.0 pre-installed, so I just use it & live with it. =T It's ANNOYING. Seeing so many things going on.

I wish i stuck with aim 5.9! Aim 6.0 alone pisses me off, although having tabs is a lot easier for me now that ive noticed how many IM's i get lol

As for the little "i" thing you can change your settings so that it doesn't show up when your buddies update their profile

I use DeadAIM.
The new AIM is annoying and pisses me off. -___-

just uninstalled aim and put pidgin on my desktop.

used it first on my eee pc and decided to replace my aim with it
