Hey guys, recently I've been looking at the new '09 Toyota Corolla S. Recently, meaning... I just discovered it today when my family decided to go to the Toyota dealership. XD

I'm pretty much happy with the exterior/interior, but I wanna know about its performance, fuel efficiency, and etc.?
It just came out February, so there aren't many reviews about it. D: I wonder if any of you have experience on it already?

Other random info...
Prior to finding the Corolla, I've been lusting over the Infiniti G35, but obviously it's way over my price range... unless I get a used car.
I've also been looking at the Nissan Altima, which is a bit more expensive.
You guys can suggest a Civic for me, but... I really don't like it, appearance-wise. (The coupes look okay-ish, but I prefer sedans.) ^^; I know, I know, it's reliable, it's a really good, fuel-efficient car, blahblah~ but I really think the front is ugly. XD Not only that; I've driven one for driver's ed, and it was pretty bumpy... ._.

----

If you wanna suggest another car for me, here's what I'm looking for:

Type of car (sporty, luxury, economy, SUV): Sporty.. ish.
Price range: $15k - $25k
New or used: New
Manual or automatic: Automatic
Years of driving: About 8-9 months
Cars currently suggesting: '09 Toyota Corolla S, Nissan Altima... anything else along those lines? XD;;
Needs and other info: Sedan; I really prefer having leather (black, haha) seats, but I'll get fabric if I have to (sport fabric is nice); nice fuel efficiency; a pretty quiet and smooth ride

Ooh wow, the Matrix looks pretty... *_*

I've considered the Mazda, but my dad thinks it's not as reliable? I dunno... x_x

Thanks!

i think the S can come with the new option of the 2.4 i-4 engine
its basically the same engine as in the tC, new xB, camry, solara, and i think the older i-4 highlanders
so as far as the engine goes...cant really go too wrong with it...y else would toyota put it in so many cars and for so long (i think since 2000? or 01)

Yea. Use your hand to cover the rest of the car and the front will sorta look like a tC. And cover the front and it'll sorta look like a Camry.

LOL...and get rid of that spoiler!

Awkwarder: I might get the XRS instead of the S... XD

hungrycollegeboy: Oh wow, they do. O_O That's kinda scary.. it looks a little like a few other cars too... Camry, Mazda...

andyroxs: Altimaaa~ but I think it's set that I'm getting the Corolla... Altimas were too much. X_X

aznfishyfart: Really? I don't remember seeing that... I think only the XRS has a 2.4, but not the S.

Laxntiga: LOL, I'm not exactly lusting over it... actually, I'm not lusting over it at all. The only thing I'm lusting over is actually getting the chance to get a car for myself... XD I don't really care if it's totally amazing and OMG and whatever, as long as it can take me to school and back and stuff pretty well, you know?

Kiribati: Eh, I don't mind the spoiler. lol

I drive a 1994 Mazda Miata with 123k miles. No problem starting up, no engine problems, nothing is wrong with it.

Mazda makes reliable cars, check them out. We all know the mazdaspeed3 is the quickest fwd, 4 banger to come off the factory line.

i got the 06' corolla s 2 years back. it sucks. Iono about now, but a lot of the stuff are the same. But it was great and all until you realize how cheap the metal and stuff are. It is definitely not durable. THe paint comes off easily and the car is easily dented when people bang into it with their doors in parking lots. stick with a Honda.

I have a 08 Corolla EX. It's overall a really nice, small car (no hassle finding a parking space xD), but I agree with lilangelstar. Despite the fact that Toyota's pretty much known for it's reliability, the metal is really not all that durable. I backed up against my PLASTIC mailbox and it left a long dent along the side of my car. Not happy with that...

Get a Scion tC biggrin.gif

Last time I saw a Scion Tc is when it had two doors. Unless Scion had made a sedan version of the Tc, I think she's hooked on getting the Corolla.

I think the Carolla would be the one to get. I havn't seen any on the roads but to me it just looks like a nice ride. I have yet to test drive one, I'd wait til the weather got better. Oh and I test drove a Carolla XRS and I don't think it was as nice as a 2000+ Celica. It wasn't as roomy either, but I think the 08 Carolla is a winner for what you'd be looking for.

Scion tCs are really really nice; I like them a lot. I'd love to get one (or any coupe for that matter; they just look so much better than sedans a lot of the time), but the whole concept of getting out of the car and pushing down the seat so people can get in the back just seems like too much of a hassle to me. :/

ick, easily denting metal? D: Hmm...
Well, it seems my parents are more set on getting the Corolla, but I'm not yet. ^^; Still open to looking... we might go to the Infiniti dealership some time to look for a new car for my mom, so I might as well get them to go to Honda (mayyybe) or Mazda (if we can find it).

Laxntiga: Isn't it noisy/bumpy? o_O I'm getting mainly that complaint from my Mazda friends... and I read somewhere on this forum that the parts are hard to replace (which shouldn't be a problem if you take care of it, but just in case...)?

you are correct....2.4 only comes with the xrs...i must have read something wrong somewhere
but yea the 1.8 is still an engine they use i think it was the xA...maybe the xD? the matrix
ive never heard anyone having any major problems with the car itself
i drove my friend's corolla S (an 04? i think) and it was pretty fun....felt almost like a go cart hehe
also drove my friend's 06 S....basically same thing....i think interior noise and other things in the car are better than most would expect....
