You're a freshment in high school. Dude you have a long time ahead of you =)

I don't go there. But.... I know someone that goes there. He's like mad smart... the perfect asian kid haha.

You have to be ridiculously smart and have ridiculous SAT/GPA scores.

So take all the upperlevel courses... do enough extracurricular activities, write a smashing essy, and get in?

I hear it's reallly hard though.... I dunno. I was never blessed with a genious mind like some people there =)

Isn't that grad school? Worry about getting into a university first before thinking about grad school.

that is like after college. college first, and then medical school. do well in high school if you want to get into a good university and a good medical school afterwards. you still have a long way to go!!

Hopkins Med is SUPER competitive, I have a handful of friends at Hopkins and they're doubtful if they can get back into Hopkin's Grad/Med.
My best friend is applying there this fall, he's a flipping genius...your literal definition of "perfect child".
But I'll let you know how it goes ^^

1. Worry about finishing high school. Take AP course, get into some good clubs that's beneficial like NHS and etc.
2. Once your a senior, that's when you start to worry about which college to go to. If you want to go to John Hopkins, it's hard.
3. Once you're in college, get a lot of A's and B's in the science courses and get a GPA better than 3.
4. Get a high score on the MCAT. If you don't get a high score, your chances of getting into John Hopkins medical school is very low.

Do you mean... what kind of high school class you should get to make your high school transcript pretty?

Well, one of my good friends in my chem class back in high school got in for Early Action.

1) He took just about every AP offered in my school. AP Psychology / AP Bio / AP Chem / AP Calc I and II / AP Statistics / AP Spanish / AP American and World History / AP English and composition. He got a 4 on the AP spanish but got 5s on the rest of them.

2) He wasn't only academically talented. Our school is like special art school or something that you have to take a tough 2 day exam to get in for. And he played the clarinet.

3) He was in the Seeker's club and was the vice president for that while on the yearbook committee and became president of the Spanish club.

4) He volunteered at the NYU hospital on Friday nights and the whole day Saturday.

5) His parents are doctors AS well. They didn't go to Hopkins. One went to NYU and the other one went to Dartmouth.

6) He took 4 SAT IIs. For Math II- 780 / For spanish- 800 / For Chemistry- 700 / For Biology - 760

7) He got a ~ 2200 on the SAT on his first try and ~2250 on his second try.

He might have wrote a kick butt essay and got some really top classed recommendation.
He had a doctor from the hospital he volunteered in and also a graduate of Hopkins.

I mean, this guy was all around the best student. He didn't have an athletic background.
Don't this scare you away though. I mean, this guy was prepared and plus pressured really hard by his parents.

to answer your question, in high school, worry about learning the material. I'd say the biggest setback people have when they get into college is that some people are far behind others when it comes to the sciences/math area. In high school, there's a lot of bsing that is possible in order to get high grades. What's more important than that is learning the material very well, so that when you get into college, you can breeze through some of your courses. Once you get into college, they take into account ur GPA, the classes you take, MCAT scores, and internships/research. But for now, learn the material.

Pretty hard to get into the med school.

Good grades + good SATs + good recs + well rounded should get you in for undergrad

i go to johns hopkins right now as an undergrad. even though im not premed, (im prelaw) you still have a way long time ahead of you. all my friends are premed, and let me tell its extremely hard, considering all the requirements you have to fulfill, asin taking ocllege courses and whatnot. add to that, you also have to do extracurrics and stuff, but those arent that important. youre still in high school, you have so much more time to think about doing premed to get into jhu med. just do well in high school, maintain all your grades because all high school grades and transcripts WILL go to grad school. whn you hit college, do really well in all your classes, get good recs, do some volunteer work, which would be good if its affiliated with med and whatnot (volunteering at a hospital, doing efr services) and in junior year you should start taking your mcats, which unevitably you should get the highest grades in. jhu med is the top med school out there so you gotta take that into consideration. but as of right now, just do you best in high school and maintain all your grades. you can decide your courses and stuff in college that will eventually lead you to med school

as of right now, since you are a freshman, you should take all the ap courses that are available in your high school. if you planning to get into jhu undergrad, they focus a lot on your essays and recs, so get in good contact with your teachers, especially reminding them of your future goals. you should definitely take the science aps, physics chem and bio. also, make yourself unique in comparison to other students- become a president of a club for a long time, do internships, the science competitions are always good, take a higher course that other students normally wouldnt (like take ap physics in junior year or something). but also, even though you display your strengths, which should mainly be science since you are thinking of premed, you should also show colleges that you are a well-rounded student by also doing well in language and humanities.
^^ hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to pm or ask ;]
