Okay, this is serious business.
Well, yesterday I accidently broke my retainer, and now I can't use
it..(well duh) Anyways. I can't book an appointment until
tuesday or something.
So that's pretty much 4 days without a retainer.
Will this severely damage my teeth, to move out of place?
Frick. I'm so scared right now. Because I just recently
got my braces off, and I don't want to get them again.. T.T

Haha, I know how annoying it is to read these braces threads
but seriously. Please help!

^Yes. After wearing retainers they should shift back.

O_O retainers are expensive.

Your teeth will shift slightly, but they are not going to shift to their previous pre-braces position. Don't worry about it.

they wont turn how they were before you had braces..
there only going to move slightly,
but if your retainers are broken, dont you have to get new ones?
i thought new braces take up to 1 week to get them again.

Whew okay.
No No, I'm getting a new retainer. How much do they usually cost?

I was scared of getting braces,
because a couple of my friends didn't wear
their retainer, and had to get braces again. T.T

I feel your pain. -____-;; I've broken my retainer like 2 times.

They won't shift back to how your teeth where before your braces, but there will be a little shifting.
Probably won't be noticeable, since it's only four days,
but when you get a new retainer you'll notice that it feels a lot tighter the first couple times you use it, since your teeth moved a little.

But it's not permanent or anything, so don't worry! =]
Last spring I went without mine for like a week and a half, and it was fine.

(And I know this question wasn't directed at me, but retainers usually cost upwards of 100 dollars. Mine is just a clear plastic one, so if you have a metal one it might be more.)

yeah. I had to wait like 2 weeks before I got my appointment and another week before my retainer was ready. It wasn't a huge difference but it will feel really tight. I paid almost $400 for my new retainer dry.gif

xD relax, they'll go back to being straight. It might be a little painful though cause it'll be a little tight.
Plus, don't you think if the ortho thought it was an emergency, he'd get it to you earlier or he'd say something about it? =)
I've had a lot of friends throw theirs away and they just got new ones.

i lost my retainers at a basketball game and they freaking cost 300 something. it really sucks. if you have alredy worn your retainers for more than 4 months, you might not need them.... but im not 100% sure.

Yes, it will shift but it shouldn't be quite a lot, i think...although it will hurt a bit because you will feel the retainers to be a bit tight.....I do know that the retainers cost at least $350..

don't worry about it, 4 days won't shift it THAT much. i've gone 2-3 months without wearing them, THAT causes a noticeable change. but 4 days? shouldn't be a problemo.

Worst comes to worst, it'll hurt a bit when you put it back on because it might be more tight. I wouldn't worry about your teeth shifting (so much as the $$$ you have to pay to replace it, that is ph34r.gif)

4 days? No big deal. They'll just take a new mold of your teeth and make new retainers for you so the retainers will probably stay in the shape that they changed into. It's OK. Retainers are hecka expensive though. ph34r.gif Cost somewhere near $200 just to get a replacement when I broke mine, but all orthodontists are different.

It will only move a tiny bit, but you'll be okay. If you're really worried if it will happen again, ask for a permanent retainer. That's what my mom got and she loves.
