My tutor told told me to get a new calculator since we're not going to use the TI 84 plus anymore, he said that we can either get the N-spire or 89 but i don't know which one to choose. Which one do you guys recommend?

Ti 89 is EXTREMELY useful and it's easy to get used to.
I have one and I'm still using it and it's been with me since 10th grade of high school (i'm in college now).

How funny. Today, my teacher kept going on and on about his new N-spire calculator. He really loves it, but I wouldn't know from personal experience... I don't spend over $100 on calculators. ^^

He kept saying that we should buy the N-spire though. mellow.gif

Neither. I think they're a waste of money for the most part.

Becoming too dependent on calculators is a bad thing.

TI-36X II or TI-30X IIS = best for everyday use. If you really need to use a calculator for 3D integration or 3D functions, a computer is best. Using Maple, Mathematica etc.

I have a Ti-Nspire. I think it's better. It does thing faster than the Ti 89 and more convenient.
For example, to type letters into the 89 you have to press alpha -> letter you want. But with the Nspire the alphabet letters are in between the other numerical buttons.
Also, you can open like 50 separate graphs, so you don't keep having to clear ur y= menu every time you want to sketch something new. So you can like sketch a graph and just leave it there in case you want to go back to the question.
The same goes for the normal calculator. You can have like multiple calculator screens.
And also, you can split the screen. So if you're doing a graph and calculations, half your screen with be the graph and the other half is the calculator screen.
But not many people have it so I think the 89 is going to win vote wise. I thought the 89s were good, until I checked out the Nspire.
