I'm writing a paper on women in the bible. since I come from a non-confessional background, I lack information and would like to know who the positive women figures are. Please list some and include where I can find their story in the bible, thanks in advance.

The first woman that comes to mind is Esther, and she's found in her own book. Then there's Ruth, also found in her own book.

Esther (Queen of the exile during Xerxes time), Ruth (a woman who married Boaz and is the starter of King David's line), Mary Madeline (follower of Jesus and is somewhat like a woman missionary), Dorcus (an old lady who stays within the community), Elizabeth(mother of John, the baptist) and Rachael (the prostitute in Jericho). These are all positive woman in the Bible and they have their own positive way that was shown in the Bible.

First of all, your spelling on some of the names is off. Sorry that's like a huge deal to me when people don't spell things right. It's Mary Magdalene, Dorcas and Rachel. Second of all, the prostitute in Jericho that helped the Israelites was Rahab. Rachel was Jacob/Israel's wife and Joseph and Benjamin's mother.

who says I'm a perfect speller? I guess when people don't spell it right, you gotta get use to it. Thank you very much.

haha calm down. i said it myself that it's a huge deal to me. i wasn't trying to attack you. i know when i spell other people's names wrong or people spell my name wrong, i want to correct it. its the same way here.
since i'm replying once again, i dont want to leave without any content to the actual thread. i just talked about women in the bible in my intellectual heritage class. for positive women you have...
-deborah, the only female judge mentioned in the bible found in judges 5
-huldah, a prophetess found in II kings ch. 22
-abigail, the witty wife of david found in I samuel 25
of course, there's more. =]
