healthier alternative?
so...i realize many people are trying to lose weight in the worst possible ways.
...well not exactly terrible but starving and drinking water only. yeah, it may work but only temporarily to lose weight.
similarly, many are eating only one type of food, your body need a balance of food. all fruits only or too much of a good thing isn't good either.
so...i suggest the Bento box diet. ok, i don't see it as a diet really, more as a way to moderate your meals and portion so you balance your meals and portion out how much you eat.
here's how it works: for each meal, you prepare in your bento box (the size about 6-9 inches long, 3-5 inches wide) compiled of meat, rice, veggies, fruits, whatever you desire. remember, portion is key. some bento boxes are double tier, which allows you to put more which is just fine PLUS you can have fun assembling it.
you are not starving yourself, but rather creating a more balance meal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. each bento box should be around 300-500 calories depending on the content, and eating this for breakfast and lunch (~400x2= 800calories) gives you dinner to eat whatever you want.
i guess this is similar to how the special k diet is but this at least allows you to eat something other than cereal.
some suggestion are plain white rice, kimchi, a side of veggies (carrots/ cucumbers, etc), fruits (grapes, apple slices, etc)

have fun with it!

My mom makes me bento.
She usually puts rice and then these side dishes on this bento thing...like pickled vegetables, meat, fresh vegetables...yeah.
It's REALLY good because it has all these nutrients and it also really satisfies the stomach.
I don't lose weight but I don't gain weight because of this lol.

You don't need a bento box. Be creative. Any tupperware container will work. Eat right and have fun. biggrin.gif

I should actually try using the bento boxes we have.
They seem really small, but it's worth a shot anyways.

I know stores that offer bento boxes.
If you're in California and in the L.A area, just go to those Japanese markets and places where they sell different kinds of things and there they usually are.
But yeah, you don't really need a bento box, just get tupperware and seperate the food with those little paper pouches (?), which you can buy in regular supermarkets and such.

Look at that vegan scallop! And egg mold, hahaha. That's cute.
I think bentos are great ways to balance your meals.
I'd try, but I'd be too lazy to make myself one everyday for lunch.

Oh, and you can buy bentos on Soompi. I think they're pretty cheap. And cute!
