Hello! ^^
Does anybody watches this awesome new series? I do, and LOVING every single of it.
The girls are all just... SIMPLY AWESOME.
I just can't believe SOOMPI doesn't have an LJ's Official Thread yet, so yea gotta make one laugh.gif

..........

LIPSTICK JUNGLE

It's a jungle out there. Dress Accordingly.

BRIEF INFO

Based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell ("Sex and the City"), this sexy new drama follows three high-powered friends as they weather the ups and downs of lives lived at the top of their game.

Movie exec Wendy (Brooke Shields, "Suddenly Susan") does everything she can to balance career and family. Nico (Kim Raver, "24"), editor-in-chief of a hot fashion magazine, has her eye on becoming CEO. And free-spirited designer Victory (Lindsay Price, "Beverly Hills, 90210") longs to make her dreams come true, and maybe find "Mr. Right" along the way.

Armed with humor and strength, these three modern New York women support one another through the triumphs and tears that are all part of making it big in the Big Apple. Also starring are Andrew McCarthy ("Joy Luck Club"), Julian Sands ("24"), David Alan Basche ("United 93"), David Norona ("Frasier"), Paul Blackthorne ("Big Shots"), and Robert Buckley ("Fashion House")

The series is executive produced by Oliver Goldstick ("Ugly Betty"), Timothy Busfield (NBC's "The West Wing") and Bushnell. Based on the book by Bushnell, "Lipstick Jungle" is from Universal Media Studios. The pilot is directed by Gary Winick ("13 Going on 30").

CAST & CHARACTER

  • BROOKE SHIELDS as WENDY HEALY

Brooke Shields stars in NBC's enticing new drama series "Lipstick Jungle" as "Wendy Healy," the top executive at Parador Pictures. A mother, a wife and a best friend, Wendy is the consummate professional, who is struggling to balance all aspects of her life.

Shields is a highly accomplished television, film and theater actress, as well as businesswoman, author and model. She began her professional career at only 11 months of age when she was selected as the Ivory Snow Baby, and by age three was a runway model. Since that time, Shields has graced the covers of hundreds of magazines - most notably Time as the "Face of the Eighties," as well as Life on three separate occasions. Shields continues to be featured worldwide in publications and in recent product endorsements.

At age nine, Shields began her extensive feature-film career when she won her first acting role in "Holy Terror," and went on to greater parts as a child film star in Louis Malle's "Pretty Baby" - the Palme D'or Award winner at the Cannes Film Festival - as well as Franco Zeffirelli's "Blue Lagoon." Shields has worked with such film greats as Susan Sarandon, Shelley Winters, Henry and Peter Fonda, George Burns, Charles Durning, Hal Holbrook and Kiefer Sutherland. Shields also had starring roles in "The Weekend," "Black and White," "The Bachelor" and "After Sex." Her upcoming films include the animated feature "Justice League: The New Frontier," as well as the comedy "Midnight Meat Train."

While at Princeton University where Shields was an honors graduate, she pursued her love for the theater. After graduation, she made her Broadway debut as Rizzo in the hit musical "Grease" and earned the Theatre World Award in 1994 for "Outstanding Debut on Broadway."

Shields has received numerous awards and accolades for her talents. In 1997 and 1998, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series-Musical or Comedy for "Suddenly Susan," and was also nominated for the American Comedy Awards' Funniest Female Performer in a Television Series-Leading Role. Shields is the recipient of five People's Choice Awards as "Favorite Young Performer" in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1984 and Favorite Female Performer in a New Television Series in 1997.

In 1999, Shields received the Genii Award for Outstanding Success in Television, Stellar Achievements in Television Performances and Good Citizenship in the Television Community. Shields also is the proud recipient of the 1st Annual Fun, Fearless, Female Award from "Cosmopolitan" magazine.

Shields is the author of "The Brooke Book," "On Your Own" and "Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression." In addition to her professional career, she continues to be a strong advocate for children's rights and literacy and is the national spokesperson for Tupperware's Chain of Confidence campaign.

  • LINDSAY PRICE as VICTORY FORD

Lindsay Price stars as the free-spirited fashion designer "Victory Ford" in NBC's enticing new drama series "Lipstick Jungle," based on the best-selling book by Candace Bushnell. Victory was once the most celebrated up-and-coming fashion designer in the business, until the New York Times trashed her new fall collection. She must now pick up the pieces of her shattered life and rebuild her career, as she relies on her friends and the new man in her life, multi-billionaire Joe Bennett (Andrew McCarthy), to help her get back on her Jimmy Choo's.

Price has served as a staple on network television since her starring role as "Janet Sosna" on "Beverly Hills, 90210."

Born to parents of European and Asian decent, Price started acting at the age of eight with a guest role on "Finder of Lost Loves." In 1991, she took on a two-year recurring role on the daytime drama "All My Children." Price then appeared in another daytime drama, "The Bold and the Beautiful," as Michael Lai from 1995-97, followed by her role in "Beverly Hills, 90210."

Price also had a string of guest-starring roles in several hit series including "CSI," "Becker," "Jack & Jill," "Coupling," "Frasier" and "Pepper Dennis." Her feature-film credits include the independent films "Lonely Street" and "Waterbourne."

  • KIM RAVER as NICO RIELLY

Kim Raver returns to primetime as the star of NBC's "Lipstick Jungle," portraying "Nico Reilly," the editor-in-chief of the hot fashion magazine "Bonfire." Nico is a hard-as-nails, no-nonsense businesswoman who can hang with the best of the boys club. Her marriage has fallen on hard times with an inattentive husband, so she decides to look elsewhere for the love she so desperately craves.

Born and raised in New York City, Raver had a regular role on the children's television series "Sesame Street" from the ages of 6 to 9. After "Sesame Street" the young actress joined off-Broadway's first all-children's theater.

In 2006, Raver appeared in the feature-film comedy hit "Night at the Museum," opposite Ben Stiller and Robin Williams. Her other film credits include "Prisoner," opposite Julian McMahon, "City Hall" with Al Pacino, "Mind the Gap" (directed by Eric Schaeffer), and "Keep Your Distance," directed by Stu Pollard. Raver also starred in the 2005 Lifetime movie "Haunting Sarah," a chilling supernatural thriller in which she portrayed identical twins.

At the start of her career, Raver paid her bills by acting in commercials that brought her to Venice for a Visa advertisement and put her in a Jeep for famed director Ridley Scott.

Raver's big break came with her Broadway debut in the play "Holiday" in which she co-starred with Laura Linney and Tony Goldwyn.

Raver endeared herself to critics and viewers during the five years she starred as paramedic Kim Zambrano on the police-paramedic drama "Third Watch." Most recently, Raver starred for two seasons on the Emmy Award-winning drama "24" as Audrey Raines. Raver's other television credits include lead roles on the dramas "The Nine" and "Trinity," guest-starring roles in "The Practice," "Spin City," NBC's "Law & Order," and a recurring role on "Central Park West."

In addition, Raver co-starred with David Schwimmer and John Spencer in the Williamstown production of "The Glimmer Brothers," written by Warren Leight.

A fine arts graduate of Boston University, Raver continues to study theater in New York with teacher and mentor Wynn Handman. She is fluent in French and German, the latter a language that she learned as a child from her German-born mother.

Raver lives between New York and Los Angeles.

THE GUYS

  • ANDREW McCarthy as Joe Bennett (Victory's bf)

Andrew McCarthy stars in NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" as "Joe Bennett," a multi-billionaire who relies heavily on his assistant for everything, including asking out women such as Victory Ford (Lindsay Price). He doesn't like to be bothered with anything, as he feels everything can be solved with money and power. Joe wants what he wants and rarely takes no for an answer until now – when he must conquer the love of Victory.

At the age of 19, McCarthy made his screen debut in the feature film "Class," paving the way for him to appear in more than 30 feature films, numerous television shows and more than two dozen live theater productions. One of the few actors working successfully and simultaneously in all mediums, McCarthy has built a resume as extensive as it is versatile.

He can soon be seen in Paramount's fantasy adventure "The Spiderwick Chronicles," as well as the independent film "Camp Hope."

The last several years have seen McCarthy branch into directing and writing, with the award-winning short film, "News for the Church," and in the theater, most recently, by directing the acclaimed production of Neil Labute's "Things We Said Today" off-Broadway. As a writer, he has also contributed articles to "National Geographic Traveler Magazine," "Travel + Leisure," and Slate.com.

It was during the 1980s that McCarthy gained recognition in Hollywood when he starred in such iconic films as "St. Elmo's Fire" and "Pretty in Pink," as well as the cult favorites "Mannequin" and "Weekend at Bernies." The '90s saw him work with such esteemed directors as Claude Chabrol and John Frankenheimer and in films as varied as "The Joy Luck Club," "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle," and "Mulholland Falls," among others.

Andrew made his New York Theater debut in 1985. He has starred on Broadway in "The Boys of Winter," and in the Tony Award-winning play "Sideman," and appeared in the works of Eugene O'Neill, Tennessee Williams, and Horton Foote, to name a few. His most recent New York appearance was in Neil Labute's "Fat Pig."

  • PAUL BLACKTHORNE as Shane Healy (Wendy's husband)

Paul Blackthorne joins NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” as “Shane,” Wendy Healy’s (Brooke Shields) supportive husband and the stay-at-home father of two who is trying to find his own niche in the business world, separate from his ambitious wife’s career.

No stranger to television audiences, Blackthorne recently starred as “Harry Dresden” in the cult favorite SCI FI Channel series “The Dresden Files.” Earlier this season he recurred in the drama series “Big Shots” as a cosmopolitan British homewrecker. He has also guest-starred on NBC’s “ER” and “Medium,” and did a villainous turn as biological terrorist “Stephen Saunders” in the third season of “24.” Other television credits include “Monk” and “Presidio Med.”

With many independent films in his list of credits, he received critical acclaim for the role of “Captain Russell” opposite Aamir Khan in the Oscar-nominated “Lagaan,” directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Later this year, he will be seen in the Robert Zemeckis production of “A Christmas Carol.”

Blackthorne’s first acting experience was as an 11-year-old with England’s National Youth Music Theatre in the UK. Starring alongside Tom Hollander, Toby Jones and John Arney, Blackthorne appeared in the first production of “The Leaving of Liverpool” at Abingdon School, which moved on to the Edinburgh Festival and then to London’s West End. A few years later, he was back with the NYMT at the Bergen Festival in a production of “The Ragged Child.” After numerous commercials in the mid- 1990s (most notably the Virgin Atlantic “Grim Reaper” commercial), Blackthorne was back on stage at the Nottingham Playhouse in a production of Tennessee Williams’ “Suddenly Last Summer.” Following that, he played Mr. Shakespeare in The Blank Theater Company’s production of “Women Are the Weaker Sex.”

Off-camera, Blackthorne can usually be found holding a camera. An accomplished photographer, he has had his work exhibited at galleries on both sides of the Atlantic, always with a philanthropic element and proceeds earmarked for various causes important to him.

  • ROBERT BUCKLEY as Kirby Atwood

Robert Buckley joins “Lipstick Jungle” as “Kirby Atwood,” a younger man who has a torrid love affair with Nico Reilly (Kim Raver).

A native Southern Californian from Claremont, Buckley attended the University of California at San Diego. After earning a degree in economics, he worked as an economic consultant before throwing in the towel to head off to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment.

He was recently a series regular on My Network’s “Fashion House” and “American Heiress.” He has completed several independent movies and will appear next in the feature film, “Dead of Winter.”

In addition, Buckley has also worked as a writer and freelance producer for E! News.

I love this show but more on the love affair between Nico and Kirby. Lindsay Price is a gorgeous woman and I really liked her in Pepper Dennis. As for Brook Shields, I'm not so sure I like her character so much. So far, Nico is my favorite woman among the three. As for the men, I'm not so fond of Andrew McCarthy even though I liked him in Pretty In Pink. I haven't seen him for a while and didn't expect him to turn to being on primetime.

Thanks for the music list, I've been looking for one from this show smile.gif

i'm really enjoying this series compared to Cashmere Mafia which I totally thought was ridiculous (maybe it was the outfits?). But the show has realistic plots and I have love he fact that the women are on top, except for Victory. But she will be soon! I think Nico affair with Kirby is totally hot and her husband is so cheating on her.

can't wait to watch this week episode online since i missed it due to studying for a midterm.

^ hahahaha.... I like how you mentioned that last punch line!
YES YES. I think so too. Charles is SO cheating on Nico! laugh.gif
and Kirby is so hot, so yeah, I kinda want them to work out somehow, and the only 'fair' way to do is if Charles is really cheating on Nico behind her back.

I really love this series too... smile.gif
Tried Cashmere Mania, and though I enjoy it, but not as much as I do w/ Lipstick Jungle.
(and plus, the whole gay thing is kinda... icky to me. sleep.gif )

^andrew mccarthy is really the best thing about this series... every scene with him in it immediately becomes my favorite. i also like roy, victory's cute assistant. my favorite part of the series so far has to be that repartee in episode 4 after joe threw his coat and scarf at roy: "i happen to know a lot about spectacular dresses, i've taken off one or two in my time." "really, you like to tuck or you just roll with the bulge?" "don't you have something to collate, son?"

Cashmere Mafia takes a little bit to warm up to -- and yes, Lucy Lui has had some *ridiculous* outfits -- but I still like that show a little more than Lipstick Jungle because they seem to stress the money, power, problems, and friendship of the women a little more/better than LJ.

Quick Thoughts:

- Yep, that quick run to shut off the answering machine is highly suspicous
- Victory Ford's name really annoys me ~ it's like naming someone "America" or "Liberty" but I love Lindsey Price so I'm glad she's on a show
- Wendy's daughter is annoying and not cute (sorry!)
surpr!se. ^^v

linsday price is absolutely gorgeous,
is it me, or has kirby lost his sexy-ness, i thought he was pretty good looking at first, but now he looks like a constipated chimp to mee

brooke sheilds character Wendy is really...needy ... i dont like how shes so pushy AND needy at the same time, she always looks like she just dropped and shattered a glass, her face always looks like someone just insulted her and hurt her feelings..i hope im not the only one who noticed this.
her daughter is annoying as hell, cute, but annoying, and the only person worse then her is The Husband. he is just..... ew. i cant stand him. if its possible, he's even more needy than Wendy. iam i the only one who finds him EXTREMELY immature " ohhh they only do this casue YOUR more famous then me, oh they only brought me food cause YOUR with me, they only like me cause IM MARRIED TO YOU, BLAH BLAH BLAH" STFU!

nicos husband= cheater hiding from a beater( his wife)

JOe= extremely annoying, he seems a little girly to be dating Victory, but i do like him, as annoying as he is sometimes laugh.gif

Victory Ford= Love <3

hahahaha

i do love the show tho, as cruel as my post was biggrin.gif

^no, i HATED the preair pilot. i did not like the actor playing kirby--he looked so sleazy and i'm sure i wouldn't have had as much sympathy for him if they had the same events happen to him as they did to robert buckley's kirby. also, i didn't like that shane asked for divorce. with nico having an affair that's two marriages being ruined and victory wasn't even married--it lacked hope for successful working wives and mothers. it also had some editing problems (mainly scenes being too lengthy or unnecessary). most of the changes they made to the aired pilot were for the better.

^hehe.. well I think it's neat and fun how the preair version showed us more about them, coz some important scenes got cut.
(I especially liked Joe Bennett's hugeeee bed they had in the preair one, but cut it off in the regular one.... coz I thought that scene was cute)
And when the girls were having a meal and Victory told them about how she paid for the meals, then in the regular version, it showed why those bouquets of flowers came to her house (from Joe). The regular ones didn't have it, and so it was a bit awkward like that.
Though I'm glad they cut off the storyline about Shane asking for a divorce (I didn't like the guy playing Shane in the preair also).
But all in all, I enjoyed the preair version too, and glad they keep Robert Buckles as Kirby rather than the preair-Kirby.
And Charles, it's better him than the guy playing as Hector. hehe from her hubby to her boss.

^ay_link thanks for uploading the preair pilot, i wanted to watched that ever since i found out about it.

so I saw last week episode and I have to say that I still enjoy this show alot! Usually I start getting bored of shows after a couple of weeks into it, but golly, this show has got me by the hook. At the moment I seriously wish that Wendy husband was a little hotter. I realized that men on this show are not as handsome/cute as I thought they should but be. Victory ex-worker, Reese deserves that humiliating moment at the party. She does not have the right to steal those designs anyways!

ooh, i think it might just be me but everytime I see Kirby my mind just flashes a picture of Kirby, you know, the pink, round balloon thing with red shoes, who sucks in people and transform into them? Well, I guess playing Super Smash Brawl for 24 hrs straight does that to u.

Wow, last night episode was intense!
Wendy and Nico... hehe.. but it was another great eppie.

Here's MU link to whoever needs it:
Episode 6 (March 13th): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FPECIIM3

And looks like next week is the series season finale? Already? huh.gif
Guessing that it's prolly coz of the writers' strike last month?
hmmm.. hopefully this series is coming back soon... in the Fall? that's like another 1/2 yr. SIGH.

Additional thoughts + PREVIEW for next week:
Looks like Charles is going to have a heart-attack. *gasp*
and so that means.. Kirby will become a... regular ?
and hm Victory and Joe.. I'm worried for them both... especially when they kinda broke up last night~
Hopefully they'll work things out.
For Wendy and Nico... both have their own faults, but yea, that mommy comment was really out of line.
And if Wendy can say "I'm sorry" at least once... probably Nico might not be so cold...
*sigh*

I thought last night's episode was not as intense, probably because of my slow connection and waiting for it to load on nbc.com sleep.gif I'm not really anticipating Nico finding out, or Charles revealing, that he's cheating on her (which is obvious). The hiding makes the relationship between Nico and Kirby exciting ph34r.gif Season finale already? sad.gifI'm so glad Kirby will be a regular blush.gif

And looks like next week is the series finale? Already?

*sigh*

1/2 a year!!!!!!! You got to be bloody joking!!! booohoooohooo and I am already missing them!!!!!!!!!!! Charles, heart attack - yeahhhhh (oops) - but then what will happen to that Charles and love affair story???
