Yea I copied some books before. It was only because I looked at the syllabus and knew we weren't going to use the whole book anyway and only photocopied the sections I needed. Saved me a ton of money sometimes.
But half.com usually has the lowest prices for me

Half.com! Sometimes I use places like Textbooksrus.com.. but that really depends on what book you're trying to buy and if they have a special on it.

it really depends on what book you're trying to buy. i usually just google the IBSN number of the book and then look at all the different sites that come up, or like everyone else said, go to the sites that compare prices. this semester i got my books from half.com, amazon.com, and textbookx.com

I go to half.com, I used Amazon and didn't really like the experience. I just have better experience at half.com, and yea I know it depends on the seller. At least at half.com, I can get a brand new book that's in a new state, not used state.

I go to amazon since I buy mostly all my books from there. I used to shop around ebay but my friend had this really bad experience with it so I stopped.

www.gettextbooks.com also searches many sites for an isbn number and returns hits from amazon, half.com, and other less known book stores (including international editions)

other than the sites already mentioned, I use bookmooch.com and paperbackswap.com. they have lots of books, but not textbooks. Good if you have literature courses. You list books you want to get rid of, people request them, and you get a point to request a book from another user. It saves a lot of money.
