I was wondering if anyone had the problem of internal speakers not working on your laptop? When I plug in the headphones or some other sort of external speaker device, the sound is fine, but if I take those out, I can't hear anything from my internal speakers.

I'm using a Sony Vaio VGN-C140G laptop and it's on Microsoft Windows XP, and I've had this laptop for about a year and three months.

Any help would be really appreciated!

over a year implies warranty is usually over.
A lot of times what happens is the little headphone sensor gets damaged so it thinks theres a headphone in the socket. I had that problem with one of my PDAs and I got a straw and started poking the connector and actually got the sound working.

Im not sure if its software controlled... we can hope it is and goto the sony site to download and install drivers to hope it works though.

get the Audio (Sound) drivers. (You can select MCE or Vista at the top)

Ahh, thanks for the advice! It worked perfectly! I ended up doing your first suggestion, but I didn't use a straw. I started to wiggle the headphone plug in the jack and then the speakers started working again. Thanks again!
