im looking for a good webcam that takes nice and clear pictures that works with Windows Vista.
something thats not too pricey. Under $50-60 would be great.

you can get good, and cheap, but not both. Honestly most $100 webcams are no better than $50 ones. You really have to get in to the higher end video conferencing stuff before you begin to see much improvement. Another problem you'll find is that no one anywhere seems to have a comprehensive webcam guide. No where you can go to compare 90% of the models on the market. While webcams are popular, they seem to almost be forgotten tech until someone wants.

Cowboy frank has quite a large collection of reviews.

Logitech is generally king.
I am the minority here.

Nice. I remember looking about a year ago and the best I could turn up were a few pages that were comparing 4 or 5 models and that was about it.

I love Logitech!

I have two different webcams to suggest. On this site, I have the Logitech Orbit, which is so awesome, but out of price range at 130$. (I got lucky and Best Buy had a major sale -- it was down to 60$ or something!) Very clear.

I also suggest an Xbox 360 webcam. Funny as it sounds, because it's USB it works fine for computers too. It's also clear but not as great as the Orbit one. biggrin.gif

I personally like the Microsoft one because it fits on a laptop nicely.

I have a logitech, notebook pro I think. Quite expensive. One thing to note is that if you're only using the webcam for Skype etc. then you probably don't need a top range webcam. If you want to make YouTube videos at the highest quality that is currently be supported, then a 2Mb camera would be useful, but a 1.2Mb would also do.

When I have my Logitech cam on it's highest quality setting, my computers processor sometimes freaks out and the sound and pic become all jittery.

The Logitech cameras can be quite processor intensive, in other words, you need a fast computer for some of its functions.
