Ok so a while ago I posted about possibly getting a Management degree and a minor in Psychology. Since then, the clock has been ticking towards the time I need to decide by (end of this semester.)

Someone had suggested that i can go into Management but maybe do something like Organizational Behavior. This sounds more appealing to me than just a Management degree with the Human Resource option. But on the other hand, I do not plan to go farther than an undergraduate degree. Therefore, I don't think a degree in Psychology will be a good idea...

I'm not so good with math, which is one reason I 1st was considering management of HR, it seems like it'd not have a TON of math.

It's pretty much 2 different extremes. I will have a minor in Psychology, so if I do get my degree in HR Management, how much can I really use that minor?

Realistically if my school had the option for just Business Management, I'd probably do that, but it does not. Is there money to be made with an undergraduate degree in HR Management pr Business Management? I

know that no matter what there is always something in business but I'm just not sure what to do. I'm at that crossroads I guess most college kids hit at some point. I like Psychology but I feel as just an undergrad it wouldn't promise a strong career.

I guess what I'm asking for is opinions. Is getting the HR management degree worth it? I will absolutely have the minor in Psych. Is just general business management a better bet? What would you do? Anyone with these majors can chime in here as well, anything will be helpful. thanks!

hey~
yes i think a HR management degree will be benefitful.
im doing a specialist in a business program right now...taking psych as electives.
if you dont want to do a specialist,
why not do double major? one major in HR management and the other major in psych?

just some suggestions ^^

^ Thanks for the suggestion. I think I might actually try and do just that, given if I have enough time/room for everything!

if you are gonna go to grad school or even apply for a job, its better that you double major instead of minoring, unless you are minoring in like 3 majors...
grad schools tend to focus on students who are strong in different areas, as youve suggested, HR and psyche.
hope it helps! ^^

^ I didn't know that, thanks smile.gif

Well I think I am considering Marketing instead of management now! I was talking to someone who told me they know quite a few people who just have a BBA in marketing and are doing just fine. Of course that doesn't speak for me, obviously so now I gotta look into that....any Marketing majors got anything to say about the subject?

Why do you have to be in a hurry? People change their majors all the time. This one girl I know changed her major like a bunch of times and that was before she started college and eventually got one she stuck with. I'm on my third major change now and finally found something I'm passionate about. I think you should go by passion and what you're really interested in or else I think you're going to get bored quick...

^I'm going to be a junior next year (well before summer technically) and at my school you need to have your major decided by that many credits. By the end of the semester, I have to get out of "undeclared". I probably can decide either Management/Marketing (it's pretty much down to one or the other for me) bc the BA core requirements are similar for the most part. But I will be restricted from taking summer classes if I don't decide by end of this semester, which is soon. I have to take them over summer for other reasons, that's why it's "rushed".
