Okay, so I'm a sophomore in HS, and this week we're going to choose our next courses for our Junior year.
However, especially my math class, I'm in AlG 2 Honors and I'm planning to go to Pre-cal next year.
My math teacher is supposed to recommend us, but she said that she "isn't going to look at our grades, yet she'll only recommend us to Honors pre-cal by the way we did so far in class."
I KNOW that I'm not going to be recommended. My grades are fine, yet I guess sometimes I tend to not put all my efforts into math, thus I don't do so well in math class. I KNOW THAT IF I PUT MY EFFORT IN IT, I COULD PROVE THAT I'M CAPABLE OF DOING WELL.
However, the deadline for the course registration is next monday.
so my question is:
With the possibility of getting 'regular pre-cal' will universities see that as way of not 'accepting me.' I Know that universities look at your sophomore and junior year a lot, and so this really worries me because they'll see that my math grade has declined from the previous year and that I didn't increase in my progress from Sophomore to junior.
Also, your parents have to sign it, which is freaking me out even more, since if my mom sees the 'regular pre-cal' she'll kill me.
I just need some advice.

I don't think most schools even accept honors pre-calculus as actual honors courses, at least the schools I applied to don't. I don't think it really matters. All that schools care about is that your grades improved and you got to the next level. Your not taking "honors" isn't going to make a big difference. Maybe someone can give a better opinion though, my school doesn't even offer honors pre-calculus.

I think regular pre-calc is fine.. well, I'm taking regular because I don't have an honors one at school. I don't really know the difference between the two. BUT imo, I don't think it will affect how universities will look at you. It's only one class. You can focus on other important things

depends on where you're from?
in my case, honors pre-calc is a weighted class, so it'll boost up one's gpa, and it'll definitely look good on transcripts in ca. but that's just me, i'm not sure where you're from.
but honestly, i say it's not THAT big of a deal. just make sure to do good in everything you can. it's not the end of the world if you don't get into the honors class. you've still got time.
and colleges would rather you do WELL in a regular nonweighted class than do AVERAGE/NOT SO WELL in a weighted class (your honors/aps, etc).

If your math grade is declining, it's probably better that you go into a normal class. Despite what you're saying about not putting in the effort, that factor's not really going to change if you get put into honors, right? Wouldn't you rather have an A in normal precal than a B or C in honors? Even if the B in honors is weighted to an A, overall, an A looks TONS better. Don't stress about it too much. Honors or not, precal junior year is what you're supposed to be in. It's not like you're in Algebra as a junior. That's when you should start worrying.
