So recently, I got into the whole Starcraft game again. But I keep experiencing problems everytime I play! Out of nowhere the program minimizes and when I try to maximize it, it winds up not responding. So I always have to end up exiting it. T_T What's causing this problem?

I saw something similar once after a new Starcraft installation... It took me a while to figure out my antivirus software was trying to pop up a window asking permission for Starcraft to access the net. The anti virus software never succeeded in its attempt (due to a bug) and ended up locking up starcraft. Try disabling your antivirus software before running Starcraft and see what happens.

Some other thoughts...
If you accidentally hit the "windows" key (next to the alt key), it will have the same effect (though it shouldn't be causing starcraft to lock up).
If any background process tries to grab focus or pop up a window, it will have the same effect.
Someone on the internet reported that their virus/firewall software did an update check every hour, which caused Starcraft to minimize.

I don't think it's my anti-virus program. sad.gif Could it be from using a random CD key I found on the internet?

I've never used a random key from the internet, so I wouldn't know... but I doubt it would fail in that way.
The fact the software locks up is suspect. Is there any pattern at all to when it locks up? Are you playing against the computer, or online? Does it tend to be after a certain amount of time?

I always play against the computer, never online so I don't understand why I'm experiencing this problem. I usually play for about ten minutes or so and then it crashes. -____-"

I'd check your anti-virus protection, or other programs that idle while you're playing.

I used to have a similar problem while playing starcraft, and after I closed all my
other programs while running the game, I had no problems.

Have you ever installed some AI patches or mods? Because they may still be in effect even if you reinstall it.

Try deleting the folder completely and deleting the registry keys. Also reinstall your sc in a different directory.
Otherwise, it may be the cd or the sc file's problem. In which case you need to obtain another a copy and reinstall..

But of course, you should see if there are other processes interfering with sc first.

I used to be a avid Starcraft freak. I was ranked pretty high too.

Anyhoo, I had the same problem with Counter-strike, and I found my other processes was making my game minimize and freeze up. That or you don't have enough ram in the computer.

^ How would you know which processes are making the game minimize?
