well...recently i decided to join the air force after high school... and i'm a girl... is that weird???
my friend said that it might give me a bad reputation...he said that it was for people who didn't do good in school and used it as a last resort...and if i go there i'm going to have to work my butt off...
i want to go because i want to travel without burning a hole in my wallet... but now i'm suddenly starting to have second thoughts...
will i have time for college while i'm there or... will it be too much for someone like me? i heard it was a lot of work... but i think getting paid, having free tuition, serving your country, and getting an opportunity to travel balances it out...right?
or am i being naive?

I don't know what your friend's talking about. Lmao.
That may be true, cuz I've heard that, too.. but that's not the only reason why people go.
I'm not trying to be sexist or anything, but girls get better grades than males? So, there
is no reason for your friend to say anything about reputation. I think it's great that you're
trying to serve your country and you're gonna enjoy it!
I'm sure most people will think it's cool that you're in the Air Force
Don't worry. I think it's a great thought~
Don't make others' negative comments become your burden.

I respect that. If it's what you really want to do, don't let your friends pressure you. You say you want to travel, but you won't be able to travel anywhere you want while in the Air Force, and don't worry. Just because you're in the Air Force it doesn't mean people are going to see you as someone who couldn't make it out of high school with decent grades.
Some use it as a last resort, but some really do want to join the Air Force.
Be sure to check your options. You might even want to consider the reserve.
But remember it's ultimately your choice.

Hell no. It doesn't mean that. One of the smartest guys in my high school decided to join the Air Force.
Anyway, that's all I know. :P Definitely a good way to pay for schooling and other things. I actually considered joining but my eye vision sucks and I'm not very at all strong or loud or anything. ToT;;; I'd like to join to gain confidence but if only I knew before...xD
But yeah, whatever floats your boat. :)

Well, it's really about what you want to do. You shouldn't really care about what others have to say about it. Make up your mind, is this really something you want to do?

It's true that most people who join one of our military forces aren't among the top, but a lot of brilliant people join too. One of my classmates who's really smart and does well is in the Marines already. He does it because he apparently loves it and takes it very seriously. Another one of the alumni who graduated a year before I entered high school made it to Westpoint. But seriously be careful of what you choose though, it's not all about free tuition and traveling... it really is a lot of work and there are still risks.

As a military brat ... chair force is the best one of the armed forces to join, note the pun, lol. There's nothing weird about it -- plenty of other women have joined the military.
Of course you have to work your butt off, but you'll have to work your butt off where ever else you go to work.
You can travel in the Air Force, also a good thing is that since you'd be active you get a steep discount at so many places you go to and you can take military planes to go to different places around the world for really cheap.
I'd probably suggest going to college and joining or joining and have the AF pay for your college. Of course for every year you do college is every year that you have to pay back the military.
If you don't want to join the military as enlisted, you can just go to college regularly and join an AFROTC program so you come out as an officer (that's what I know).
Anyways, I definitely think that joining the military as an officer (not enlisted) is a really good idea simply because you get pay, then sometimes you even get housing pay, then your medical gets covered as well as college.

personally, i respect our military men and women very much despite the grades they got in school.
grades aren't everything, and who cares if someone didn't do good in school?
who knows, they could be the next einstein

I know you'll count on the me from yesterday.
If I turn into another, dig me up from under what is covering the better part of me.
Sing this song, remind me that we'll always have each other when everything else is gone.
