it really should be easy to set this up right?

well, when i tried setting it up (i went through the directions carefully..
even doing the plug in the modem & wait 2minutes & then plug in the
router) but the internet light does NOT go on.

the rest of the lights are a-okay though.

i've tried taking all the cables out and then reconnecting them also.

does anyone have a clue as to how i should fix this?

thanks!

BTW i have a WNR854T

I had a netgear router... not sure if they work the same now.

But my the light for the internet would turn on as soon as I plugged in the modem. It didn't care if it was disconnected or anything as long as my modem's ethernet light was on the router's wan light was on.

Can you try swapping the network cables? Like the disconnect the one between the router and your PC and connect it between the modem and the router?
I think you might have a cross over cable for some reason and that seems weird but worth a try.

Have you tried just using the internet to see if it connects?
Have you configured like the logins/password for the modem and internet as well? Pretty sure that doesn't apply to cable but for dsl you usually have to.

Okay so the light turns on... have you logged into your router to configure it for your internet service?
