today my dad was telling me lots of stories from his childhood and i thought it would be interesting to be hear some of your parent's stories too. my parents had such exciting lives... *sigh* mine is so boring...

ANYWAYS, if you like, post some cute/exciting/sad/awesome stories of your parents or guardians childhood! biggrin.gif

i guess i should start off since i'm the topic starter.
when my dad was in 5th grade, his dad died of a heart attack, so his family had no income coming into the household. naturally, the eldest boys had to work, so him and my uncle started working in elementary school. oh, and this was also just a few years after the korean war, so korea was pretty damn poor. anyways, he would deliver eggs to people and do odd jobs. everyday after school he'd have to deliver eggs and when he saw his friends pass by, he'd hide and wait till they were gone so they wouldn't see him working cuz he thought it was embarrassing. one day, some bullies came by and saw him delivering eggs and they took a few of the eggs he was delivering and threw them at him. DDDD:< and since that happened, my dad would go out of his way to avoid seeing classmates outside of school. okay yeah. that wasn't very interesting but i thought it was sad. oh and he was also arrested when he was 10. lol.
i want a superfriend to make things right

Lol, that's a nice story. I guess it's my turn, it's short I know.

This is a story my aunt told me.

When my dad was younger, he and his friends were playing with fireworks on Guy Fox Day. Guy Fox day is celebrated in Barbados, which is where I'm also from. Somehow, one the fireworks got out of control and he ended up burning down three sugarcane fields. I can't remember if he got a beating for it or not but it was sure funny when I heard it.

i have a lot on my mom from my granparents, uncles, and her best friend...

my mom was a bully in school(i think she still is =x)..this from her best friend...

the teachers loved and hated her at the same time cuz she was always the top student, but got into fights and general trouble all the time

she was nicknamed the "school flower"

her friend..in class one day..looked over at my mom to catch her staring at her arm and playing with the hair..she had the attention span of...something with short attention spans...

she tells me..."everyday..im happy you did not turn out like me or else i would have murdered you"

This is more about my uncle than my mom happy.gif.

My mom was in her high school library one day (the same school I went to! Whoo!) talking to a teacher when all of a sudden she saw my uncle (her brother) jump out of a window across the way and onto the ground. The library was on the second floor, so it wasn't that high laugh.gif but she said the teacher turned to her and said: "June? Was that your brother?" and my mom just shook her head and replied she didn't know who that was.

And my dad...I've never heard much about his childhood. All I know that they were really poor and he's the 2nd to youngest of 9 kids. So one day he broke his foot and my grandparents couldn't afford to take him to the hospital, so it remained broken and set wrong. I guess that's why he has trouble walking now.

My grandmother also once told me out of nowhere that when she was young, her father worked in a coal mine and one time an accident happened and his leg was severed. I was blown away at that and she told me how hard they had to struggle after that :[.

from my mom "When i was young, i was so pretty..." O___O
from my dad "During summer, the teachers made me and my classmate do gardening.. and when the plants are fully grown and picked out, i saw the teachers are eating what we have planted for all those summer... lame teachers.."

yea that's all...
but i still dont believe my mom is pretty when she was young..
she said she can prove it with a childhood picture..
but she never gave me it...

when my mom was young, she and her younger boy cousin were playing upstairs, and downstairs, some guy was cooking. the younger cousin pee-ed on the wooden floor, and the urine leaked through and ended up in the wok of the cook. xD

My dad told me a really gross story about him when he was young T.T
You know how back in Korea, they had those toilets that had to be dug from the ground?
Well, he had to do his business right? But it was really late at night so it was hard to see.
So he ended up tripping on something and falling inside one of those toilets T_____T (and yes, there were crap and pee and all that nasty stuff in there!)
ewwwwwww! hahahahaha. My grandparents had to help him get out LOLL

Poor daddy XDD

My mum told me that she used to get chased and followed by guys when she was at school. tongue.gif
Some guys would follow her home and then her dad (my grandfather) would have to shoo them away.

Another one is that when my dad was in his teens, he almost drowned when he and his friends were swimming in a small lake in the countryside. His friends rescued him, and when they got to shore they split a small towel into pieces so they could have one each. XD

When my Mom was in second grade, she was with her father on his construction site and she had to go like really bad and since the building was still under construction, the bathrooms weren't all finished (well all except for the bottom one) but because it was an "emergency" she just decided to go on the second floor toilet which literally made her crap fall to the bathroom underneath. The thing is, there was a worker underneath who had to go but instead had the surprise of my Mom's crap hit his head. She says that she repeatedly said sorry but that she really had to go and the worker just up and left without a word.

Man, I still can't help laughing about this everytime it comes to mind.

My mom and dad tell me a lot of stories about there childhood. Both of them grew up with lots of brothers and sisters, everyday was hectic.

I thought this one is funny. It's about my youngest aunt when she was five. Everybody in the household had a bowl of che (Vietnamese desert). The youngest girl devoured her whole bowl in an instant. Her big brother went to play with another big brother but he didn't want his sister to eat his che, so he spit in it. She wanted revenge so when he was away she spit in his bowl. He ate it when he came home, and laughed about it after he finished his whole bowl.

i guess many parents have wild or tough times when they were younger.

did your parents have a wild youth?
maybe they told you how they dated lots of girls, skipped school, did drugs, shoplifted, (prison time?), turned to God, became a parson, married the local funeral directors daugher (your mum) and now they have you ! very romantic story !
of course, did they mention the underworld connection yet?

my parents had very quiet studious youth. my mum is a professor of medicine sad.gif
how can i possibly have a wild time?

so.. maybe your parents youth was like a japanese takeshi miike epic movie?

I think that's it. o_O;; my parents' childhoods were pretty... peaceful as I would like to call it XD

i don't think they would reveal anything wild to me. my mom does talk about how so many guys liked her. eww dry.gif

a little off-topic, but my teacher confessed that in her college years, she smoked pot, sped on the freeway at 3am while she was tipsy, and often had those "brownies".

My dad was a hippie from a divorced family, who lived with his much older brother on some tiny island, then dropped out of HS and joined the military.
My mom is the spoiled daughter of a really wealthy family, who got straight A's in HS.

They both have stories to tell... very insteresting ones lol.

honestly... you're not half as special as you think you are.

- My mom told me that she once ditched school just to go hang out with her friends one day during school days. You know, karaoke, beers, smoking, and just having fun as a teenager. Her homeroom teacher (male) found out that she ditched school that day and search my mom all the way up to her house to ask where she went that day. ph34r.gif
My father? Well, I heard from my mom that when she was about to give birth to me, her friend told my mom that my father was at karaoke with his friends...and girls. dry.gif And he arrived 1 hour late...he didn't see how I was born. tears.gif

haha my dad has given a few stories.
Brushes with the law - some not so serious, some very serious (thank the lord nothing happened)..
His temper used to be explosive when he was young...less so now.
My mother has some interesting stories about boys...haha...but I won't go into detail...

I remember my mom telling me that she and her sisters would sometimes skip English class to take care of their other sister because she was always sick and they didn't think English would be important.
Other than that, I get treated to a lecture of how hard life was back then.
