So, I'm planning to buy a new router. Wireless to be exact. I'm juggling between these two and I don't know which to buy since I'm not a computer techie kind of person. I have two computers and i'm planning to also use it with my Wii. And I'm planning buy buy a laptop in the future. Which one would be the best, since they are both the same price? Or if you know of any better routers that are on the Futureshop site, please tell me smile.gif THANKYOU!!

My auntie has the black router and ran into problems of when the phone would ring, the internet would cut off. We then found out that it was the wireless phones that caused the problem because the router and wireless phones had the same frequency so they interferred with each other. The solution was to change the channel on the router to something different and then it has worked since then.

Beware, though....setting the whole thing up will make you mad but worth it once you get everything straight hahah.

They are both practically the same I'm sure, but Wireless N might be overkill for basic needs. Unless you're doing large transfers over wireless from computer to computer, within the network, N will be put to waste.

You could opt for a cheaper Wireless G based Linksys like the WRT54G and save like $40.

At 54Mbps you're going to need some expensive fiber optic internet or something to cause any bottlenecks.
I am the minority here.

I never used a G or Mimo router... but one other benefit is the range of a N router tends to be far superior... I mean my old router I used to hit like the back room of the house and the signal is gone... now my uncle who lives 3houses away can pick up my wireless crazy.gif (cant use but can see)

Looking at the two, the one that kinda looks like a flat space ship is a newer edition of the routers. The more conservative model has a Draft N (hopefully upgradeable when they decide on the standard) while the other one they call 802.11N which is really a lie, because they didn't agree on the standard yet.
You will probably notice no difference so if you like how one looks over the other, go for it.

a wireless N router is overkill...and a lot more expensive to say the least. wii is only b/g i believe and wireless-N is not standard on ALL laptops yet.

instead, id recommend maybe a linksys wireless G router. it will suit your needs perfectly!

you could go the N route later down the road if you want, since you wont see the full benefits of 802.11N until all wireless devices are equipped with it...

ive used 2 different routers before since 2004ish. one was a D-LINK (which was really good but it short-circuited lol), the other is a NETGEAR (which i'm using now).

when you buy a router, dont always consider the latest model is the best for you. it all depends on your internet connection speed. if your connection is just the normal cable/DSL type, then the basic ones will do.

as for the brands, in my opinion D-LINK and NETGEAR are the killers =]

^True~

I have the WRT54G and it's my baby~ <3 I experience signal problems but I'm thinking it's because of my laptop. mellow.gif

This router has pretty much large radius because I was out of the house (like almost 2 houses away) and I could connect to the internet. mellow.gif

Linksys Wireless N Home Router (WRT160N)

Linksys Wireless-N Home Broadband Router (WRT150N-CA)

I bought the 150N about 3 months ago. So far, so good. No interruptions or dropped signal. Very reliable.
"But when it ends and while it ends, something comes, after so much rage, persistence, obstinacy, extravagance; something entirely unexpected and touching in its mildness and goodness. With the motif passed through many vicissitudes, which takes leave and so doing becomes itself entirely leave-taking, a parting wave and call, with this D G G occurs a slight change, it experiences a small melodic expansion. After an introductory C, it puts a C sharp before the D. . .and this added C Sharp is the most moving, consolatory, pathetically reconciling thing in the world. It is like having one's hair or cheek stroked, lovingly, understandingly, like a deep and silent farewell look. . . . " (Mann: 55).

A song can take you back instantly to a moment, a place or even a person.
No matter what else has changed in you or the world, that one song stays the same, just like that moment.
