thanks fROSTY.MINt, Hitomi and kuku for all the info! (uh, did I miss anyone? ^^;;) and thanks to f0reveralways for making the list of soompiers at UoP biggrin.gif

^kuku, your friend's dorm placement..it that for this year? crazy.gif I'll prolly end up across town if it is...

and are credits the same as units? because some of you mentioned getting credits for taking AP classes at high school, but getting units for taking the actual AP exam...

and the fb that I never use: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=549143791 and if you happen to add me, just let me know you're from soompi or I'll prolly end up "forgetting" to add you sweatingbullets.gif

uhh don't worry too much about housing. I'm sure you will be fine. Credits... units? lol I miss those up all the time. Classes like chem are 5 units and bio are 4 units. Now I'm not sure what credits mean anyway sleep.gif" Maybe it's when you get an A, so an A in chem is 5x4 = 20 credits? Bah who cares.

AP's will count towards your overall units, but will not be factored in your overall grade. Grade in college is what you EARNED in college and not anywhere else.
I came into this school with 28 units. Some of my friends came in sophomore standing!

wow o_O I didn't know that there was an UOP thread. yay!

I just came back from visiting there, and.. I DON'T KNOW. it seems so small. and quiet. and nice. D:
I'm still deciding between UOP and UCSD. I'll be visiting UCSD on saturday.. so I'll seeee...

I got into the Honors program at UOP though! o_O they just sent me the letter last week.

so far,
UOP =
-small, quiet
-less people, (I only know 1-2 people there so far)
-less social/I'd meet less people
-5-6 hours from home, stockton is dull.. ish
-but GOOD 6-year PharmD education/program.. and that's what I'm stuck with if I go there.

UCSD =
-a LOT bigger, more people
-friends will be going there
-more social
-more options
-1.5-2 hours from home
-SD is next to the beach <3 and i'm more familiar with the area ish
-but HARD to get into other PharmD grad schools from UCSD.. unless I choose another major/career.

and I got around 23K of financial aid from UOP, so it's about the same as UCSD... D: so money isn't an issue between the two.

*flails*.

^ i thought UCSD was UCSociallyDead. o____o my sister graduated from UCSD & my brother currently attends UCSD.. and both have kind of just stayed friends with their old high school friends.

also, my sister is on the route to becoming a pharmacist & took the UCSD route with a major in pharmacological chemistry or w/e and got rejected everywherrrrrrreeeee. lol. she received her BS from UCSD in just 3 years too. by the time she graduates, it'll have taken her 8 years instead of the 5 years she rejected at UOP.

on the other hand, there are other soompiers that posted on this thread who took the UOP route and have become completely uninterested in pharmacy. they ended up dying to get out of UOP A.S.A.P.

-------------------------------

and you're not alone. how_tacky & v3rmillion are also deciding between UOP & UCSD.

I, too, was stuck between deciding to go to UOP & a UC. . . except being the reject that i am, it was UCI since i got rejected from UCSD

asdfjsdlak. ahemmmmm. lol.

anyway, it was a matter of where should i go versus where do i want to go. and uh, well.. i decided to go to UOP.

i estimated the total amount of tuition & loans that i would have to pay for undergraduate & graduate schooling with a 3+3 UOP route and a 4+4 UC & UCSF route. (i just used UCSF b/c it was easy to find their tuition thing online). ignoring all the technical taxes/deductions/whatnot, i'll have an extra 1.47 years worth of salary in my pocket if i take the UOP route.

anyway, i'll tell you right now. UCSD's campus is just.. alright. i really liked UCI's campus/area though.. sdfjlka D: but hey, SD has yogurt world. i have to admit, I do love frozen yogurt.

well anyway, g'luck on your college-choosing! you'll feel much more relieved once you're finally set on where you want to go

jeezchris, I hope you make the right decision rolleyes.gif

However i think it's the opposite with the social thing for me. At a smaller school wouldn't it be easier to be friends with a lot more people?

Hey KuKu do you know of a girl named Nhi Tran? She goes to UOP and is a sophomore also. I should go visit her even though UOP is only 10-15 minutes away from where I live.

wow. creepy. lol.

my exact thoughts blink.gif

and same thing with UCI, it's almost the same as it is here, so many asian people/shops! XD except the buildings are waaaaaay nicer looking and the asian parent drivers seem to be crazier -____-

hmm, SD is about 1.5 hours from LA, and Stockton is about 1.5 hrs away from SF, but there's so much more around SD

Does she live off campus? I don't have her added as friends on fb but we have only 9 mutual friends sleep.gif" which isn't that much for going to the same school haha.
I wonder if she's part of VSA, cuz I go to the meetings some times.

I'm supposed to be studying for a midterm right now so I didn't have a chance to read through all the questions, but I just found something right now that you guys might be interested in and I didn't want to forget soooo...

UOP has launched a new interactive articulation website on January 11, 2008 called ROAR (Roam Online Articulation Reports). Basically you can use this site to figure out which college courses (if you took any in high school) are transferable to substitute for a GE course. I have more good news. So I guess taking and passing AP Tests can actually do you some good! You can use ROAR to see which AP subjects can substitute for the corresponding GE course as well. All UOP students are required to complete at least one course from each GE subcategory and there are 9 subcategories all together so you would need to complete 9 GE courses aside from Pacific Seminars I-III (only if you're aiming for a Bachelor's Degree). For pre-health majors, you still need to complete certain GE's under the specified categories, so you can use ROAR to see if you have any AP's that can substitute for them. You must have scored a 4 or a 5 on the AP Test in order to get the necessary credit.

ROAR Website CLICK HERE!

Okay I'll come back after my midterm is over and write more. smile.gif

she lives on campus. Her dorm is near the intersection on pacific. She's a short little asian girl that can be loud at times.

Of course... I live right on top of her in my dorm. I'm like her 'honor's peer'.

All I've heard is that you make a lot of connections and you basically have employers looking for you right out of college, dunno about the actual friend thingy :/

fROSTY.MINt good luck on your midterms! ^^

^i found out how to get the email to work. so if you go to www.pacific.edu/admitted and click the link and use the username and password provided to you (from your University of the Pacific folder that you get when you're accepted), there should be an email button on the top right hand corner of the page. The username for your email was also provided to you in the folder, and your password is your initials, a dash, and then the last three numbers in your pacific id (example: sk-xxx).....um, this was probably really confusing to read, sorry its kinda vague. also, you have be using firefox, not internet explorer, to do this because for some reason, it doesnt work...

^ and for the grad year; i put pacific '14 (im 3+3) because i know some people who go to pacific and thats how they did it :)
