I'm actually interested in the 3+3 and 4+3 programs. Are there any statistical information avalible? Like the average GPA and SAT scores of those accepted, ethnicity diversity, etc. I'm so worried about applying this fall since my GPA -might- fit under the requirement (3.9 average at the moment) and I've talked to people who've been accepted--but they have over 4.0. I'm not sure about my SAT scores either. If we don't fit the SAT mark but fit the other requirements, will they deny us straight off? How does UoP view AP courses and units earned?
Thank you !

Test Scores
Policies for Fall 2009 Applicants
Who has to submit test scores?
All freshman applicants or transfer with less than 30 completed transferable semester units (45 quarter units).
What tests are required?
A set of scores from at least one of the following tests is required.
- The SAT
- The ACT
How do you combine scores?
We look at the highest of each sub-score even if they were each from different test dates. For example, your highest SAT Math score may be from June, but your highest Critical Reading score may be from October. Both of those would be used for admission and scholarship consideration.
What makes a score official?
Scores must be electronically sent to University of the Pacific directly from the College Board (SAT) or the ACT . This can be arranged before the test, or can be done online after the test. Because Pacific receives your test information electronically from the testing services, it should only take one week for your scores to arrive after you have designated University of the Pacific to receive them. In most cases, there is no need to "rush" your scores to us.
What is the latest test that will be considered?
Scores received in January from the December SAT or ACT tests are the last scores that will be used for admission or scholarship consideration for Fall applicants.
What about SAT Subject Tests?
Subject Tests are NOT required to complete an admission application or to be admitted. The following SAT Subject Tests are, however, strongly recommended for the indicated groups because they will be used for placement purposes if a student enrolls.
All Students should take either of the SAT Subject Tests in Mathematics
Students applying for the following majors should take the SAT Subject Test in Chemistry:
Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, Chemistry-Biology, Civil Engineering, Dental Hygiene, Dental/Pre-Dental, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Pre-Pharmacy

For the Pre-Dental Advantage Program, are there alot of under grades admitted and residing in the dorms?
Yes, I believe there are. Most of the pre-dents live in the honor dorms (Carter and John
How's life in the dorms?
Umm pretty nice, I guess. They provide you with a bed, desk, and dresser. So you don't really have to buy extra furniture. Maybe a short dresser that you can fit under your bed. It is also really convenient to have refrigerator and microwave. Remember to bring flip flops to wear in the shower b/c the shower floors are pretty disgusting sometimes. It's convenient to bring a robe and then just change in your room. But, it's not necessary. ummmm and I can't think of anything else.. but feel to ask if you have more questions.
Is the Pre-Dental program at UoP good/beneficial?
Not in pre-dent program! Ask moee! ^_~
Can we major in anything of our choice or does it have to fit under their contract thing?'
You can always switch majors after getting accepted. However, if you don't get into the pre-dent or pre-pharm program... you can not switch into it. You must be accepted in it. If you get into the 2+3 program, you can go down year programs. However if you get into a lower year program, you won't be able to switch up. So for example... if you get into 3+3, you can't go up to 2+3.
I'm actually interested in the 3+3 and 4+3 programs. Are there any statistical information avalible?
Like the average GPA and SAT scores of those accepted, ethnicity diversity, etc.
I'm not sure exactly what the statistics are for specifically the pre-dent program. However, there are stats for the school overall somewhere on the pacific website. However, those averages are a lot lower than that of the pre-dent / pre-pharm program (b/c those majors a lot more competitive).
How does UoP view AP courses and units earned?
If you get AP scores that are 4 or higher, you get 3 or 4 (don't remember how much) units of credit. This is helpful when you have to register for classes next semester. The more units you have, the sooner your registration date. However, you don't get to be exempt from any of your science courses (which suck).
Also, I know that if you get a 4 or 5 on calc, you can't take the easy math course anymore. T_T
I know that's true for pre-pharms but I'm not sure about pre-dents.

for the predent program, i think there are actually less people than the prepharm program. the honors dorms are like majority prepharm and predent... but there are more prepharms though. x] but if you live near stockton, i would just stay at home though because it's a bit cheaper. =P
How's life in the dorms?
absolutely wonderful if you're with people that you like. but if you're stuck with people that you dont like, you probably wont like it or something. people here are generally really nice. i'm really surprised. and like you would assume that people would be like >[ and keep things to themselves and like not care about other people, but they're actually really nice and will help you out when you need help
Is the Pre-Dental program at UoP good/beneficial?
i think it is in a way if you're really into the dental-ness. lol! technically you take all the same classes with the other science majors and prepharm students. but that's only undergrad.. for grad, it's most definitely more beneficial because the uop dent school is only three years. but those three years are three intensive years ever! monday to friday 8am till 5pm... but you're done in three years whereas, the other schools will take four years i believe. also uop's dent school is a bit more expensive than the other dent schools..
Can we major in anything of our choice or does it have to fit under their contract thing?
umm. you can ALWAYS switch out. haha i'm in the middle of thinking if i wanna stay in the dent program or switch out. also, you can stay in the program (preferrably 3+3) and just not take the DAT or apply for the dent school and go a different (science) route and apply for other schools that you might wanna go to and such. i'm still debating if i wanna go to the dent school or some other school for other major. -.-;

umm... try checking the ACCEPTED thread. cause there are some people who gave their stats in there and which schools they got in and which they got rejected from. that's pretty helpful. and honestly, you DONT need 4.0 to get into uop's predent program or the highest SAT scores.
How does UoP view AP courses and units earned?
i think they only accept like 4 or 5 scores... cause my roommate right now came in with a lot of APs.. and they only took a few of them. -.-; but ummm... community college units also count!

i'm staying at john B's third floor. mmm i'm leaving in like 2 hours. lolol.

I'm in the same situation as you too, what I was thinking was to wait till march 31 and if it still doesn't come, then I'm gonna call them. It says that it should come on March 15 for pre-pharm, but nothing came for more than a week.

i would just call them now. i think the admissions people are pretty friendly actually. but iono, i know it's not related to this school, but i got my letter from usc today. so. i guess waves are still coming in for other schools.
since i didn't get into hopkins (--'') i'm like 90% sure i'm gonna come here. so i might as well as introduce myself.

lol I think the % is right. There's more girls than guys when I look around my class.
The dorms are just either, 2 guys 1 girl floor, or vice versa in general.

Hii Julie! Welcome to UOP. ^^ aww I didn't get to meet you on honors day. You might have seen Moe around though. o_o She lives in John B first floor. x)

errrr most of the asians I can think of are pre-pharm/ pre-dent. However, I do know some asian people that aren't. I can think of two at the top of my mind--One is a music major and the other is International Business. However, I'm sure that there are many others around. It's just really difficult to say because I'm not usually in classes with other people that aren't taking the science classes. In addition, since I'm in honors, the majority of people in honors program are pre-pharm / pre-dent. >_>;;

just wondering, are there a lot of asians who AREN'T in pre-dent/pre-pharm?
iono about a lot since i only was there for like two days (and i think it's like testing season or something? i could be wrong) but the campus was really quiet. but i def. saw some ppl who are not in pre-dent/pre-pharm program. bit of bio, bio-chem, engineering, edu majors too.
and i think i only saw like a small portion of the ppl at the school b/c i was there for honors day.
even if you're not going to go to profile day though, you should def visit! (if you haven't already) i was just mmhm-ing about this school but after touring the school and actually seeing it, it's def on my top three list for potential schools that i might go to. it's beautiful & i could really imagine myself being there, walking around, taking classes, studying in the library, sleeping in the dorms.
cassi-o-peia ummm i got mine via mail. iono if they have an online system thing. hope you get in. :].
yoursassyg1rl mmm i might have? i'm not sure. my hosts were clara & jane. does John B and Carter differ in any way?
