Yep, I usually buy them off of ebay, half, or amazon.
They are cheap and usually reliable.

QUOTE (stewchu @ Jul 12 2009, 02:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
technically you can. but not directly. you can buy your textbooks on student account and then use your financial aid to pay for it later on. However, I'm pretty sure your financial aid will only be enough to cover tuition.

Just buy it through amazon, ebay. its cheaper that way

whoa! thanks a lot!

lilblugirl91: which dorm did you get into? smile.gif
krnboi92: umm. i would still try for the pre-dent program when you are applying to the school. it wont hurt. if you make it, you make it. if you don't, they place you in your second major choice. or something like that. as for the dent school, i'm not exactly sure. =X x] who exactly did you talk to when you talked to one of the advisers? dr. jongeward's the bio department head... and i think he knows about the pre-dent program the best? (someone feel free to correct me if i'm wrong). if you want his email to contact him, please PM me; i dont know if i should give out his email to the open world, (even though you can find it on the uop website x])
pucapunipoemi: i think there's a way to transfer the left over of your financial aid money to your actual bank account.. it's called like direct deposit or something. my family was trying to get me to do it before.. but... hopefully they wont remember to remind me later when school starts x] basically, you take a check from your checkbook, and write void on it.. and like.. go ask them to transfer any money you have left from your fin. aid after they take the cost of school and fees and stuff.. and yah. it'll be your money and you can spend it however you like.. since it'll be in your bank account. i haven't done it personally, but my cousin's done it before soo... *shrug* and from there you can use it to buy textbooks and whatnot. textbooks cost an arm and a leg at uop's bookstore... sleep.gif;

thanks a lot!
oh yeah, does anyone know if we need to have all of our textbooks with us on the first day of class? or does most of the people have their books on the first day of school? if we buy books from the uop bookstore, can we return it? say... if i bought a cheaper book fro ebay or something, but it doesnn't come until like the 3rd day after school starts and can i buy a book from the uop bookstore to use it for the first 3 days and then return it and get my money back?
thanks everyone!

use that website and try to find out what books you need and buy it online before school starts or something smile.gif (the course number and the section should be inside your insidepacific account under the academic tab smile.gif)

Just wondering, but are there any pre-pharm students that transfer to another school for pharm (opposed to staying at UoP)?
I've only heard of pre-dents transferring so far. :/

- What are the average stats of those accepted into UOP's dental program? 3+3 or 3+4
Averages for GPA, SAT scores, etc. What is UOP looking for? I read the requirements under each program, but they weren't really specific other than the SAT minimum score. If applicants don't meet the SAT minimum score, will they not consider us at all? Or is it like the UC system where they take many factors into consideration?

There's this brochure thingy that states the "cutoffs" for each x+3 pharm program, so it's probably the same for the dental program.
lol, my copy is probably buried somewhere in my box of uop papers. XD

It's pretty hard. I've had it easy during high school, but once I went to UOP, it was like bam. I struggled quite a bit in upper division courses as well.

All the pre pharm/dent students all need A's, so you have to fight them to beat the curve. Pretty competitive.

ku

are you sellling your med term book??

also, you have to admit that mrs. ku didn't make your life easy in high school.

I'm graduating from highschool in 2010. I was wondering when I'd enter UOP if I apply for the dentistry program. Would it be Fall 2010 or Spring 2010?

And for a Major, is it possible to major in something OR do we have to put down Pre-Dent for it?

I have a question for all pacific students.how's the class competition for bio and chen classes for A's? I might want to come here for undergrad, but not in the predental program because my high school gpa is too low. But I know that I can turn myself around. Thanks guys.

You would apply for Fall 2010. You have to put down pre-dent if that's what you want. If you put down bio, you won't get accepted into the program.

Pacific is VERY hard in the undergrad science courses. I'd say fewer than 10% get A's per class. I was top 10% in my bio 61 class, but still got a B+. I was soooo mad lol.

I want to get into UOP's 3+3 or 3+4 program, but my SAT scores don't meet their minimum requirements. My writing score is higher than my math and critical reading. There's only 2 more chances to meet and hopefully, exceed UOP's requirement.. so I'm getting really nervous/scared ^^;

And thanks Kuku! Do you know if we can major in something while doing UOP's pre-dental program?
